Continuing news surrounding Russia’s invasion of Ukraine was interrupted by a confession from the New York Times when the Gray Lady admitted being wrong with her claim that Hunter Biden’s laptop was not real.
The New York Post reported that:
“Outraged Republicans have accused Big Tech, Democrats and the liberal media of colluding to censor reports on Hunter Biden’s infamous laptop after the New York Times finally admitted the device was real.”
Today, half of America expects Big Tech, Democrats and the liberal media to lack credibility. But sadly, that expectation now extends to the nation’s premier member of the “Intelligence Community.”
On October 19. 2020, Politico.com reported that fifty highly experienced and esteemed Officers of the U.S. Intelligence Community had signed a “Public Statement” concerning the Hunter Biden emails.
The list of Signatories was led by four former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Directors.
- Jim Clapper: Former Director of National Intelligence, Former Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence; Former Director of the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency; Former Director of the Defense Intelligence Agency.
- Mike Hayden: Former Director, CIA; Former Director, National Security Agency (NSA); Former Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence.
- Leon Panetta: Former Director, CIA; Former Secretary of Defense.
- John Brennan: Former Director, CIA; Former White House Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Advisor; Former Director, Terrorism Threat Integration Center; Former Analyst and Operations Officer, CIA.
The individualized pedigree of the fifty overwhelmingly mentioned their past CIA service – 70 times. Others, like the National Security Agency (2) and the Defense Intelligence Agency (1), received little mention.
The Public Statement that preceded the list of fifty signatories contained this sourcing explanation:
“[W]e write to say that the arrival on the US political scene of emails purportedly mentioning Vice President Biden’s son Hunter, much of it related to his time serving on the Board of the Ukrainian gas company Burisma, has all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.
We want to emphasize that we do not know if the emails, provided to the New York Post by President Trump’s personal Attorney Rudy Giuliani, are genuine or not and that we do not have evidence of Russian involvement — just that our experience makes us deeply suspicious that the Russian government played a significant role in this case.
If we are right, this is Russia trying to influence how Americans vote in this election, and we believe strongly that Americans need to be aware of this.”

In addition, media reports say that the FBI has now opened an investigation into Russian involvement in this case. According to USA Today, “…federal authorities are investigating whether the material supplied to the New York Post by Rudy Giuliani…is part of a smoke bomb of disinformation pushed by Russia.”
We do not know whether these press reports are accurate, but they do suggest concern within Executive Branch departments and agencies that mirrors ours. It is high time that Russia stops interfering in our democracy.”
So, fifty former members of the U.S. Intelligence Community – most with CIA service – admitted that: “We do not know whether these press reports are accurate.”
Once-upon-a-time, a young Army Counterintelligence Agent was doing a background investigation on a Lieutenant Colonel scheduled to move into a sensitive position overseas that required a higher clearance.
When the agent submitted his report for review it included a reference to the LTC having passed bad checks.
The reviewer scanned the report, read aloud the part about bad checks, handed the report back to the agent, and said: “Prove it.”
A lesson learned by that agent.
But apparently not by the fifty who signed the Hunter Biden letter back in 2020.
All they proved was their collective incompetence.
