I Will Not Miss This RINO In Congress.

Suppose you were an idiot, and suppose you were a member of Congress; but I repeat myself.

Mark Twain

This past week, we saw the fall of the House of Cheney. Liz Cheney, after three terms in the House of Representatives, is heading home to K Street, where her Dad, Darth Vader, will greet her with open arms.

But her other partner in stupidity is making a name for himself. Thankfully his time is soon up.

Kinzinger says Pompeo ‘did all of Donald Trump’s bidding’ while serving as secretary of State

Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) said on Friday that former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo “did all of [former President] Donald Trump’s bidding” while serving in the role.

Kinzinger told CNN’s Jake Tapper that he and Pompeo, who previously served as a congressman from Kansas, are friends and worked together while they were both in Congress, and they agreed on foreign policy issues. He said Pompeo did “a good job” while serving as director of the CIA but completely committed himself to Trump after he joined the Cabinet.

Kinzinger, who is one of two Republicans serving on the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection, made his remarks following Pompeo meeting with the committee last week. ..

…Kinzinger said Pompeo is trying to run for president but knows he cannot attack Trump and run, so he is hoping that Trump does not run, and he can take Trump’s place.

“So, he’s trying to walk a tightrope,” he said. “That is somebody without a moral center, and he had a moral center. So, I don’t know what happened when he went off to the administration.”

And Mr. Kinzinger is surprised Mr. Pompeo did the President’s bidding…how?

Adam, I think you need a refresher on the government of the United States. It has three branches, Legislative, Executive, and Judicial. Article 2 sets up the Executive Branch, and you need to reread it:

The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America.

You see Adam, the President IS the Executive Branch of the government. Now obviously a single man cannot handle the Executive Branch duties by himself, that’s why the President has, are you ready, departments and agencies to execute the laws, etc., needed. Now Adam, these agencies have secretaries, administrators, etc to run them. One of those cabinet agencies is called the State Department, which is tasked with handing the foreign policy of the United States. The head of this department is called the Secretary of State.

Now the Secretary may be the head of the Department of State, but the head of the Executive Branch is the President of the United States of America. The President sets the foreign policy of the United States of America, and while the Secretary of State serves in the government, his duty is to execute the President’s foreign policy. In other words, “do his bidding.”

And Mr. Pompeo did his bidding, like John Francois Kerry, the haughty French looking Massachusetts Democrat, who by the way served in Vietnam, and Mrs. Bill Clinton, did for Barrack Obama. Or  Condoleezza Rice and General Colin Powell did for George W. Bush.  You may disagree with the foreign policy of the President, but your opinion is irrelevant. It’s set by the President, and executed by his Secretary of State.

Hope you got it now Adam. If not, while you’re on the January 6 Committee, I suggest you ask an intern to explain it to you.

The last few years have shown some positive political developments. Last week has seen the fall of the House of Cheney. In May 2022, with the defeat of George P Bush (Jeb!’s son) for Texas Attorney General, the House of Bush is dead. And the House of Clinton is on its last legs (Mrs. Bill Clinton may try again). Someone posted last week that with Liz’s loss, come January, this will be the first time in 58 years a Bush, a Cheney, or a Clinton has not been in office.

Good. While I have a lot of respect for many of these people, their time is past, we need fresh air and new thinking in high office. Barbara Bush said it well when Jeb! was preparing to run. “If we can’t find more than two or three families to run for higher office, that’s silly.” You are correct ma’am. And it looks like we are seeing some movement away from the silly notion.

  1. I suspect you will see Kinzinger again, probably sooner than you expect. MAGA won’t survive without Trump hyperbolic rhetoric and that’s clearly got an expiration date. Your comment that the POTUS “is” the executive branch is authoritarian and simplistic. There are real limits to executive power and the unitary executive theory falls apart when you apply it to a demagogic populist. Highly recommend that you read Esper’s and Bolton’s books for an insiders perspective.

I think we can agree on this…..communication is much clearer when you keep the hyperbole out. People have lost the ability to differentiate, and their collective skin is too soft.
