Much has been said about the takeover of Hollywood by the woke crowd and their whacked-out values, but a lot of conservatives are probably unaware of how far that transformation has gone. Not being a consumer of superhero movies; horror films; low brow, shlock comedies; or LBGTQ+ rom-coms, I have been somewhat oblivious to the trend myself. That ended recently when I watched the latest Jurassic Park sequel, “Jurassic World Dominion.” It is old news in woke Hollywood having been out for months, but its messages are still pertinent. Like the woke world views hammered on in nearly every frame, “Jurassic World Dominion” is an utter disaster. Unfortunately, if art reflects life and America is adopting the value system this movie is clearly advocating, this country is on the proverbial highway to hell.
One thing this movie can claim as a accomplishment: it did not leave any stereotype untouched. There was everything from the comically senile, white, male, master villain (Joe Biden?); the butt-kicking, black, female (not transgender) lesbian (subtly yet clearly revealed when she expressed her preference for female redheads); the totally clueless, middle class, white parents; the incredibly smart, brave, idealistic, and wise 14-year-old girl (Greta Thunberg without autism); a self-sacrificial mother who bore a daughter after impregnating herself with her own DNA (no extraneous male spouse/rapist relationship for her!); clueless white yuppies who are happy to aid their evil senile boss in destroying the world for good pay and benefits; and the lone black man dressed in skin tight, high water slacks, who is willing to risk everything to try and stop his white co-workers, presumably so the dinosaurs can prosper.
The crux of the plot is that an evil white businessman/scientist runs a company that is busily producing deadly and/or huge dinosaurs for fun and profit, while simultaneously plotting to destroy the world (plot spoiler alert) by breeding giant grasshoppers that will destroy all the food crops on the planet EXCEPT for the ones perfected by the evil white guy’s scientists. Given the general disdain all the main characters exhibit for human lives, it is not surprising that no one would report such an evil plan to law enforcement. After all, their company already infested the entire world with giant predators which gobble humans like they are popcorn. The special effects folks must have been giggling like school kids as they choreographed all the scenes depicting humans as just so much dinosaur bait. However, one wonders if the director and producers of the movie gave much thought to that message before putting those scenes in a movie created specifically for teens (although the dialogue was mostly at the 6th grade level).
Wonder no more! The character played by Jeff Goldblum gives the lie to any doubts about the movie’s regard for humans when he gives a speech declaring that humans have no more right to freedom and survival than any other animal, and perhaps less right, since the dinosaurs were here first and for much longer. So, if dinosaurs ended up eating every human on the planet, that would be just fine with Goldblum’s character and presumably with the movie’s bosses as well. Why are we not surprised? Because the anti-human attitudes of the left wing have been in plain view for a hundred years or more. Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, Kim Il-Sung, Castro, Pol Pot, Ho Chi Minh, Chavez, the list is a long and disgusting parade of violence and mass killing. Even in this country the left is practicing using violence to obtain their political goals: just review the 12 months prior to the 2020 election. Those store owners in American cities who saw their businesses torched by left wing rioters as left-wing leaders praised the thugs are the real-life version of the popcorn people eaten by the bushel in this pathetic excuse for a movie. One thing is certain, when a movie pounds the drum for woke philosophy during an “all the humans you can eat” buffet, it unequivocally illustrates how little the financiers of this movie care about people.
One might argue that dopey Hollywood entertainment is not that influential, but the movie, dreadful as it was, produced a box office of more than $1 billion dollars. That is a lot of money shelled out for lots of young people to receive the message that humans are expendable and need to make way for the superior species. Normal people might watch and realize that consumption of humans by monstrous beasts is, well, monstrous. However, there is also a good chance that people suffering from mental or emotional problems might get the message that people just do not matter that much.
Granted, a great movie like “Saving Private Ryan” also has lots of violence, but the violence is presented in such a way as to emphasize how terrible it is. It also invites the viewer to empathize with the people caught in such a horrible circumstance and admire them for their bravery and decency in terrible, life-threatening situations. In that movie, people are the focus, and the reason they are important is because they are human, not because they are rich, famous, incredibly smart, or super athletes. The left-wing attitude in “Jurassic World Dominion’ is that most people are useless scumbags who do not really deserve to live, especially the white ones. That’s why the movie’s characters spent far more time fretting about what might become of the dinosaurs than about the people who were going to die for Barney’s dinner plate. They even had a couple of sequences of little white kids being chased by small raptors trying to bite them. Barrel of laughs there! Watch those little crackers run! Nobody expressed any concern about that at all. The characters were much more concerned about making sure that poachers did not kill or capture little raptors, thus depriving dinosaurs of their rightful inheritance- planet Earth.
For a long time, leftist have use entertainment to push boundaries and champion their left-wing morality and causes. Some campaigns, like attacking Jim Crow laws, were truly noble and good for America. Unfortunately, in many cases the left is doing a good thing for nefarious reasons. Championing the Great Society and black suffrage was far more about political power than it ever was about helping improve the lot of the black community. The current debacle that characterizes most majority black communities is proof of that.
“Jurassic World Dominion” (JWD) is another notice that the left is now targeting everyone, but especially white people, since they are the evilest, including their kids. To quote one left wing source:
White guilt[1][2][3] is a belief that white people bear a collective responsibility for the harm which has resulted from historical or current racist treatment of people belonging to other racial groups, as for example in the context of the Atlantic slave trade, European colonialism, and the genocide of indigenous peoples. -Wikipedia
This is a core belief of Wokeism, and JWD embraced it whole heartedly. Why any parent would take their kids to see a movie like this is inexplicable? It was not entertaining, it had dopey dialogue, a terrible plot, and a grab bag of stereotypes, new and old. “It’s A Wonderful Life” was on screen incessantly during the holiday season, but if Americans took its messages to heart, this country would be a much better place. If they take JWD’s messages to heart, America will be full of self-loathing, self-destructive, arrogant, bigoted, ruthless people, all of whom will be totally certain that they are justified is shafting their fellow humans if they claim that they are doing it for the good of the planet, or some living thing other than a human being. Do yourself a favor: skip JWD and most other Hollywood fare. Your life will the better for it

All that you state about “Saving Private Ryan” are points well made, but one criticism I read of that film that I thought had merit is that it ignored why the Second World War had to be fought and what good the Allied victory accomplished. If that movie was the basis of all your knowledge, you would conclude that the only positive thing accomplished in the Normandy invasion was getting Mrs. Ryan’s sole surviving son back to her.
I do not think the movie had the intention to be that comprehensive, any more than “13 Hours” had the intention of comprehensively addressing the GWOT. Spielberg wanted to tell a story about the individual sacrifices made by American soldiers. He did that masterfully.
