No Divas On American Airlines

Sha’Carri Richardson records removal from plane: ‘Tell me if I’ll be wrong to pursue legal actions’

Recall well known NFL football player (and documented narcissist) Odell Beckham Jr. was booted off of an American Airlines flight. Now American sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson has joined the party.

Ms. Richardson was busy filming herself going on vacation to post on her fledging Instagram account, when the flight attendant asked her to cease and desist. Sha’Carri did not like the white male attendant’s tone and took offense. Shocking I know but stay with me. When another passenger quite publicly complained the hold-up might cause him to miss his connection, Sha’Carri would have none of it.

This disrespect Sha’Carri felt far over-ruled someone’s fear they might miss their connection. Unfortunately for the sprinter on VACAY, she is so self-obsessed, she did not stop to think that perhaps the worried passenger had a legitimate concern and the flight attendant had a job to do. And should he fail to do his job, (i.e. secure the cabin for take-off), the flight attendant could get fired. None of this crossed Sha’Carri’s mind. How could it? She’s on vacation! The American Airlines in-flight magazine clearly states the flight attendant was just doing his job. On page 106:

“The use of still and video cameras, film or digital, is permitted only for recording of personal events… Please refrain from using any voice or audio recording or transmission while on an American aircraft. Unauthorized photography or video recording of airline personnel, other customers, aircraft equipment or procedures is prohibited.”

According to the comments section of the Yahoo Sports article,

“As soon as you board a plane, you’re in a private space—and are beholden to an airline’s rules, whether you know about them or not.” The same comment referenced lawyer Daniel Greenberg telling the Washington Post, “You can’t prohibit photography in public,” but the prohibition of photography on private property is legitimate. The decision is up to the property owner. If you don’t want to follow the carrier’s rules, don’t get on the plane.

To be sure, these days following the death of George Floyd, many African Americans have filmed their “live traffic stops,” just to document any evidence of police misconduct. And after Floyd, I can’t really argue against said cell phone strategy. But the take-off of a crowded airplane on a tight schedule is not the same thing as a solo traffic stop in Detroit, Chicago, Philadelphia, etc.

To compound the issue, with her cell phone safely tucked away in her designer handbag, Sha’Carri continued to film herself and the on-going dispute in the cabin. To her credit, she remained composed while the banter continued. When a different flight attendant informed Sha’Carri the pilot wanted her removed from the flight, Sha’Carri asked if the disrespectful flight attendant was being removed also! Sounds a little like High School…I know, but I think we all know “some people” have never left High School.

While Sha’Carri was exiting the cabin, indignant over the disrespect she felt, she told one of the passengers very matter of factly “and you fat!” On the face of it, with her hypocrisy on display, the fat comment is just plain funny, or is it? While I usually open these published pieces with my own personal history, at this point in my musings, my experience and “compassion” begins right here.

For decades, when I looked in the mirror, I saw a fat fourteen year old kid, who had to lose 16 lbs. in one day to make weight so he/I could be the quarterback on the 8th grade football team. My coach was also the wrestling coach. So he put me in a rubber suit and I ran in our school’s boiler room. In the short term, it worked out. I lost the weight and I played the position…for that season. But in the long term, it did not work out. From the age of 22 on, I have “given birth” to a kidney stone, just about once every ten years. No one told me that I could form “many” kidney stones with a sudden dehydration event.

Similarly, in college, while attempting a ridiculous circus shot in intramural basketball, (I made the shot with two guys covering me), I tore my lateral meniscus cartilage in my left knee. Worst part? I played on a talented team and my four teammates did not need me playing “hero ball.” Thus, my arrogance, i.e. “I am better than both these guys!” un did me and my knee.

At the time, I really wanted to play baseball my senior year. Repair of the cartilage would have pushed my rehab out six months. Removal of the cartilage would allow me to play for my college team…just two months away. Since I had no hope of playing major league baseball, a prudent approach would be to miss the senior year of baseball but preserve the priceless knee cartilage for my old age. Why? Because now, decades later, with missing cartilage in my knee, doctors want me to get a full knee replacement! But who thinks about that when they are 21?

So in this life, we live and learn and we have to deal with the consequences of our own actions. To be sure, we are the authors of our own tragedies. Which brings me back to Ms. Richardson. Now before I start my rant/commentary, let me state upfront something that may shock the reader, and that is this.

I know how Sha’Carri Richardson feels.

And no, this is not the Bill Clinton “I feel your pain” crap. I mean I know what it is like to be disrespected when an authority figure “believes” they have the right to pass judgement on you, simply based on “their position” and your “profile” and “appearance.” Here is my story.

Without having any idea who I was, what church I belonged to, what schools I graduated from, what family I came from, local authorities accused me of actions that are so far beyond my own experience, that I won’t even detail the allegations. But I know why they did so. Because in this specific ABSURD CIRCUMSTANCE, I learned the following. When you are dealing with the police, the first call is from a “VICTIM.” And the second call, the police are required to call in the alleged “PERPETRATOR.” In my circumstance, I arrived at the police station thinking the police had found two bikes I reported stolen from my front porch.

Instead, the police detectives put me in their “hot box” and asked me some head spinning questions. They asked me to sign a document or they may keep me overnight and I might miss my shift at work. Since I had never been in police custody before, I had no idea what to do when in police custody and I had a real fear of losing my job, I panicked. Reluctantly, I signed the document…and in so doing, implied my own guilt in the matter.

I addressed my unfamiliar legal circumstance with an African American friend at work. He said, “You will not be arguing your innocence of a traffic violation. You are now considered a CRIMINAL. Go get an attorney before you damage yourself…AGAIN.” I thought if I got a criminal defense attorney, that I would be projecting my own guilt in the matter, when I had in fact done nothing wrong.

When I represented myself in the first hearing, I asked the local cop two simple questions. He refused to answer. The judge did not compel him to answer and the local DA said I was being “argumentative.” Yeah, I grew up in a large Irish Catholic family. I knew how to argue. I also took a logic class in college, so I knew how to follow a simple thought without distraction. But evidently the Judge, the Cop, the DA did not appreciate my line of questioning.

For my next hearing, I did consult an attorney. He told me if I was to retain him, I should plead guilty and he could get the charges reduced to a minor misdemeanor. But I insisted I had done nothing wrong and I wanted him to defend me, put me on the stand, call witnesses and get the truth out. The alleged “victim” would see the error in her judgement, realize her mistake and we would learn how the local police coerced my signature under duress. My attorney told me a jury trial would cost $15,000! WTF! I learned a very important lesson that day.

Getting “your day in court” is not about the truth or justice. The legal system is a BUSINESS. And therefore, the truth is about MONEY. If you have it, you can pursue the truth. If you don’t, you can’t…and you must “plead out!”

The Police, the DA, the assistant DA’s, the judges, the Defense Attorneys all depend on each other to get paid. They all conduct an elaborate dance in public in court and behind the scenes…so people continue to pay their salaries. The language they use is for themselves and their own use…because this is how they all get paid. The rest of us, the Victims, the Perpetrators, the taxpayers… we pay for all their kids schooling, their cars and the houses of those who depend on the legal system…sorry, the legal business. And the business only gets worse.

To remove the misdemeanors from my record, to get my record “expunged,” would now cost me thousands more. Further, what once was an on-line reputation of “five out of five,” is now a “zero out of five.” So who do I sue to reclaim my reputation? The police? The DA? The Judge? All three? Because unlike Richardson, I don’t collect videos on my phone to incriminate “authorities.” Maybe I should have?

Lo and behold, when the “Discovery Documents” in my case showed up at my attorney’s office, the letter I signed, that was authored by the police…WAS NOT INCLUDED! Why? Because said letter was certainly IMPROPER and most likely ILLEGAL. Producing said letter could get both the “good cop” and “bad cop” detectives FIRED. Producing said letter would threaten the Police Captain’s position. Producing said letter would prove to the DA that the case never should have proceeded in the first place.

Yet today, the two detectives, their boss the Captain, the District Attorney, the assistant DA’s and the judges are all still getting their paychecks and my reputation remains DESTROYED. But unlike Ms. Richardson, I did not bring any of this on myself. For more on the “Richardson Philosophy,” let us turn to her Instagram post.

In her previous post from September, you will find a whole lot of “Champ, Queen, Goddess, Black Woman” talk…typical of a person who was raised in our present day. A day without words like “nobility,” “selfless,” “sacrifice,” “love for your fellow man.” The last one of course is way too gender specific. Didn’t I mean “fellow person?” My bad!

Sure Ms. Richardson feels disrespected. Even if she wasn’t known to the flight attendant as a “track star,” or “Goddess,” she feels disrespected as a Black Woman…and I get that. Her mother was disrespected, her grandmother was disrespected…it is a long list. For decades Sha’Carri has been told “stand up for herself.” I am fine with that. But when you are “waiting” for the disrespect, things spiral out of control. On-line, such “waiting” is on full display.

When you click on Richardson’s website, two things JUMP OUT at the “newbie.” First, her aforementioned post from September, right before the end of her track season. She is at the finals in Europe, and reminding everyone she not only made it to the finals, but she did so during a year of “trial and tribulations.”  I am NEW and not yet a WordPress master, so click here and meet Sha’Carri Richardson.

The post is just about fourteen minutes and worth a look…because you get Ms. Richardson unfiltered. She does not appear to be an athlete. She portrays herself as a celebrity, a rapper, a stripper, a transgender goddess, or all four. The eye lashes, not hers. The hair, not hers. The fingernails, not hers. The tattoos, not hers. The jewelry, not hers. The perky breasts, not hers. In other words, we have NO IDEA what Richardson really looks like. And with the Instagram format, we have no idea WHO Richardson really is. Why do I say this? Because in a recent post, she also said this…

If you got 10 haters today, you need to figure out how to get to 20 by next week 💥

To be clear, Taylor Swift, the master of modern media, spent two rock tours and five years accumulating “best friends.” The movie stars, models and anyone else who had a large social media following …became Taylor’s posse. Why? Because some of the followers of her brand new “best friends” become her followers. And when you cross the 100 million followers thresh hold, you get national Capital One and AT&T advertisements that raise your Q rating to a point where you actually are a SUPER STAR.

When Taylor’s Big Machine record contract expired, those of us familiar with the music industry wondered if Taylor would start her own record label. Afterall, when Sinatra left Capitol, he started Reprise Records. It was a logical move. If you don’t know, Taylor can write a song in the afternoon, record it that night and release the song the very next day on her website. Six million of her 100 million Instagram followers are monetized. That means these “certified Swifties” will pay the $1.29 for the one song download and WAA LAA, Taylor has another $6,000,000. I kid you not. But someone needs to explain to Sha’Carri Richardson that she is not Taylor Swift.

Because I am pretty sure if you had 10 haters this week and 20 haters next week, it could take several decades to get enough haters before you don’t make a whole lot of money from the haters. Hey Sha’Carri…Capitol One and AT&T are not reaching out to Kyree Irving or Odell Beckham. Right?

Ricardson said she “idolizes” Kyree Irving because he so successfully speaks his mind? Kyree claims the haters do so by sighting things he said in the past, not with what he might say today. Let that sink in. Kyree denied the holocaust…but he did so six months ago, so he should get a pass…because today, he has “seen the light!”

In mid ramble, Richardson said you should “understand you before you understand anything else.” Again, on a free form ramble, we get a glimpse into the real inner workings of Richardson. With the fake hair on her head, fake lashes on her eyes, fake boobs on her chest, demonic fingernails, tattoos, etc., the “Goddess” and her “self idolatry” is on full display.

Someone should tell “these folks” that tattoos and piercings are well known signs of slavery for ohhh…about the last 6000 years. But go ahead and ignore me and everyone else you so choose. I’m just another alleged perpetrator, another tragic hater, another closet racist. Tragic yes…racist no.

Sure all the haters can add up to more views, more clicks and maybe Sha’Carri can sell more advertisements on her website for condoms, fingernails, tattoos, eyelashes, you get the picture. Eventually Sha’Carri might make a couple thousand dollars a month, but what price has she put on her soul? I guess I already answered that question.

Keep the faith and BE GOOD!

  1. Well, it doesn’t appear to have been the victim of White Privilege, but she sure plays a victim. It would be hard pressed for me to use “Lady’s first” if I opened a door for whatever that is.

I’m not sure, but I believe that is the first time I went to Instagram, and may also be the last, if that is what populates that site.
Concerning your experience with the cops, one would need to know more, and based on your stopping short of giving that, All I can say is, when you have a police encounter, it is always wise to keep the mouth shut until you have counsel at your side. Their job is to make their job an easier job. That’s just the way it is. Never go and assume they are your friend, because they can’t be your friend unless it is bone chilling obvious that you are a true victim.
That’s not an insult to cops, just the world they have to live in.
