Men Without Chests

C.S. Lewis warned us,

We make men without chests and expect from them virtue and enterprise. We laugh at honor and are shocked to find traitors in our midst.

Back in 2017, the Daily Wire published an interesting article along this same line of thought, drawing a correlation between male physical weakness and socialist tendencies. From the article:

An academic study from researchers at Brunel University London assessed 171 men, looking at their height, weight, overall physical strength and bicep circumference, along with their views on redistribution of wealth and income inequality. The study, published in the Evolution and Human Behavior journal, found that weaker men were more likely to favor socialist policies than stronger men.

While pretty much confirming what most of us already knew, of course, the article had to tie this concept into today’s leftist economic bugaboo, inequality.

Brunel University’s Michael Price believes this may be a product of evolutionary psychology.

“This is about our Stone Age brains, in a modern society,” said Dr. Price. “Our minds evolved in environments where strength was a big determinant of success. If you find yourself in a body not threatened by other males, if you feel you can win competitions for status, then maybe you start thinking inequality is pretty good.”

This is typical of what passes for ”thought” among leftists. Demeaning and degrading talent and achievement in order to make everyone the same is their modus operandi. Of course, making everyone the same will always result in everyone becoming dirt poor. No exceptions. I find it interesting that the article avoided the real conclusion. Weaker men tend to believe they have a right to the property that others have earned.

Steve Straub in the Federalist Papers, puts it more tongue in cheek. Here’s an extract. For the full piece, which many of us have seen before, click here.

Humans originally existed as members of small bands of nomadic hunters/gatherers. They lived on deer in the mountains during the summer and would go to the coast and live on fish and lobster in the winter.

The two most important events in all of history were the invention of beer and the invention of the wheel. The wheel was invented to get man to the beer. These were the foundation of modern civilization and together were the catalyst for the splitting of humanity into two distinct subgroups:

1. Liberals; and

2. Conservatives.

He then goes on to list the differences in a hilarious fashion. The point here is that like most good humor, this meme is based on truth. Liberal males do tend to be weaker and more effeminate. Just look at this picture.

Pajama Boy, An Insufferable Man-Child - POLITICO Magazine

That idea reached its peak in what was dubbed by Washington Post reporter, Chris Cillizza, as a “swing and a miss,” in a column entitled, Who Had the Worst Week in Washington? Pajama Boy. The graphic, dreamed up by the Obama Administration, was meant to encourage folks to sign up for ObamaCare, notably on a website that wouldn’t stop crashing. Instead, it became its own meme that defined the type of adult male who was still adolescent, still dependent on “Mommy,” now in the form of government, to take care of what real men handle routinely. It’s gotten worse. Now we have weak biological males getting hormone treatments and subjecting themselves to genital mutilation. They do this because they can’t compete with men, so they decide to cheat by forcing themselves via judicial mandates into women’s sports. This doesn’t do society any favors. I find it ironic that lately, women are now asking, “Where have all the men gone.” Gee, I wonder
