In the era of “woke” culture, where absurdity seems to be the order of the day, we find ourselves witnessing a bizarre phenomenon – the proliferation of mandatory training programs that exist primarily to shield organizations from liability. It’s almost as if these programs have taken on a peculiar mission: to provide a handy list of trusted individuals ripe for suspicion. The common theme? The training insists that the most likely threats come from teachers, coaches, or your friendly neighborhood parent-friend. It’s a classic case of “go woke, go broke,” and it’s leaving a trail of distrust and confusion in its wake.
Let’s start with the Boy Scouts of America, an institution that once prided itself on shaping the leaders of tomorrow. In a misguided attempt to stay “woke,” they rolled out a series of policy changes that led to a staggering decline in membership. Apparently, the timeless values of leadership and character-building were too outdated for the woke revolution, and so the Scouts found themselves in the throes of virtue signaling, alienating both participants and volunteers.
Fast forward to the invasion of critical race theory into the hallowed halls of churches. Places that have long symbolized faith and unity are now becoming battlegrounds for ideological skirmishes. The noble goal of promoting diversity and inclusivity has taken a dark twist, manifesting as witch hunts for alleged pedophiles among the faithful volunteers. Instead of fostering an environment of trust and spiritual growth, these institutions have opted for the more trendy culture of suspicion.
And what about the well-intentioned volunteers, those noble souls who dedicate their time to serve their communities? They now face a gut-wrenching choice: stay and endure the suspicious glares of distrustful congregations or walk away, protecting themselves from the stain of an unwarranted “groomer” label. It’s a lose-lose situation that’s leaving a gaping chasm between those who genuinely want to serve and the institutions that should be rallying behind them.
It’s high time we remember that progress should not come at the cost of unwarranted fear and paranoia. While the initial intentions of these training programs may have been rooted in positive values, they’ve strayed far from the path of common sense and unity. The “woke” crusade against perceived injustices has spiraled into an environment where goodwill and dedication are greeted with skepticism.
In conclusion, it’s time to halt this madness and rethink the direction our society is taking. Embracing diversity and addressing real discrimination issues are vital, but not when it means tearing apart cherished institutions and driving away those with genuine intentions. It’s time to strike a balance between progress and common sense, recognizing that extremism, in any form, does more harm than good. Our institutions and communities deserve better than the chaos and distrust that this ‘woke’ madness has unleashed upon us.
