Once again we must point out, it’s not the device, but the evil people that cause mass murder. Maybe we should be careful who we allow into our country.
It’s a fact of life that murder happens, including mass murder. The FBI defines a mass shooting as when three or more people are killed, not counting the shooter. So there is no question this qualifies, and I wonder how fast this will drop off the face of the news cycle.
At least 40 dead after explosion, gunfire hit popular Moscow concert venue.
Several gunmen opened fire Friday night at Crocus City Hall, a popular concert venue on the outskirts of Moscow, Russian state news agencies reported. Dozens of people were reported injured or killed and the building was on fire in the most deadly terrorist attack in Russia for over a decade.
“People in camouflage, at least three, burst into the ground floor of the Crocus City Hall and opened fire from automatic weapons. There are definitely wounded,” state news agency RIA Novosti reported, citing its correspondent at the scene.
The terrorist group ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack, according to its news agency. A U.S. official, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive information, said the United States had “no reason to doubt” the claim…
“…After that they threw a grenade or an incendiary bomb, which started a fire,” RIA Novosti added. “The people in the hall lay down on the floor to escape the shooting, and stayed there for 15-20 minutes, after which they began to crawl out. Many managed to get out.”
Videos, which were shared on Russian Telegram channels and verified by The Washington Post, show four men in camouflage entering a large marbled hall and opening fire, and shooters firing rounds in a concert hall, thick with smoke…
…One graphic video showed shooters firing for a full minute at point-blank range on a group of people trapped in an entranceway.
At least 40 people were killed and more than 100 wounded, the Tass news agency reported, citing the press office of the Federal Security Service…
As I write this (Monday morning) the death count has written to 137, and over 100 injured. How is this possible? Guns are heavily restricted in the former Soviet Union, where ownership requires an “extensive” background check, and where drug use and mental issue are disqualifications. Magazines are restricted to 10 rounds (I can hear the former governor of New York salivating), so how did these terrorists get these weapons?
After any mass shooting in the US, an argument I get into with liberal friends is in their religious belief that, “This doesn’t happen outside of America!” I hate to disagree, but facts are an inconvenient thing. From World Atlas:

If none of the 100 injured die as a result of this attack, Russia will have the 3rd largest mass shooting attack in history. Liberal ranting aside, of the current top ten mass shootings, 2 are in the USA, 3 are in Western Europe, 4 in Asia, 1 in Africa.
It’s still early in this investigation, but from one source the leader of the four only spoke in Tajik, the official language of Tajikistan (98% Muslim) and the language of a significant number of Uzbekistan citizens (88% Muslim). Back to the Deadliest Mass Shootings In History, the top three (now top four) were committed by Muslims, as well as Westgate Mass in Kenya, the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando FL, and the Sousse Beach Tunisia Shooting. Seven out of ten with radical Islamic ties.
I wonder if the Russian Federal Security Service (FSS) has put out a report warning the greatest terrorist threat in the Motherland is soldiers returned from the war? </sarcasm> For some reason I doubt that. Russia, for its many issues, does not follow DEI lectures in their government functions.
In the near future we will learn more on the planning of this attack, where it originated, etc. However, it will drop off the face of the news cycle fairly. Islamic terrorists are not the cause de jure of the Forth Estate in the United States, or much of Western Europe.
But one thing it will likely cause in the Russian government is a review of their immigration policies. People allowed in your country need to be vetted to insure they are not going to be criminal aliens, or worse, terrorist. Not likely? In FY 2023, the United States stopped 160 illegal aliens on the Terrorist Watch List.
This recent attack in Russia and current events on our border should serve as a serious warning to America. Again, those are only the ones stopped. We can only guess how many made it across unmolested by the law. Joe O’Biden is not ignoring our immigration law, but directly trying to circumvent our laws for political gain. And if this is not an invasion, what is?
