In a recent article, I posited that the radical left is engaged in a very dangerous game. They are limiting the peaceful means for Americans to self-govern – with no apparent concern for where that leads.
The radicals have spent the last 8 years gleefully lining up dominoes, which could trigger a chain reaction leading to a final confrontation. They have
- Stifled free speech,
- Challenged parental rights,
- Targeted religious observance,
- Weaponized the federal government,
- Violated property rights,
- Undermined elections, and
- Crushed dissent with lawfare.
I’ve received an avalanche of correspondence asking the same question: What will trigger Americans to confront the radicals, with force if necessary?
The American Revolution illustrates how people with more hubris than wisdom can start a chain reaction which leads to a confrontation. Historian Russ Rodgers (retired U.S. Army Command Historian) wrote that Great Britain made three critical mistakes in 1775-1776 which goaded the colonists into declaring their independence. The Proclamation of Rebellion, the King’s speech to Parliament, and the Prohibitory Act.
In July of 1775, the colonists sent a letter to King George III declaring their allegiance to the Crown, but asking that the King consider their grievances. King George responded by declaring that the American colonies were in revolt, and ordered the empire’s leadership to deny all future petitions from the colonies. The ability to peacefully request redress had been terminated. The King’s Proclamation of Rebellion (August 23, 1775), added a domino to the chain reaction which would lead to the revolution.
In October of 1775, King George spoke before Parliament, expressing his intent to starve the colonies by interdicting commerce. He also announced the appointment of commissioners to force the colonies back into obedience to the Crown. When given the chance to deescalate conflict, the King instead added a domino to the chain.
In December of 1775, Parliament passed the Prohibitory Act. The act removed the colonies from the protection of the Crown, and declared vessels trading with the colonies to be lawful prizes of the British Navy. Removing the colonies from the empire’s protective umbrella, also terminated any reason for allegiance to the Crown. When the King signed the act in January of 1776, he added the final domino to the chain.
The chain reaction was triggered in February of 1776, when the colonists learned that 26,000 troops had been dispatched to America. The rest is history.
Have the final three dominoes been added to a chain which could start America’s next confrontation?
Has the King made a declaration of rebellion? In his State of the Union address, Joe Biden declared the January 6 riot to be an insurrection and the greatest “threat to democracy” since the Civil War. Biden further identified his predecessor as the leader of the insurrection, and demanded that all Americans join him in standing against the forces of MAGA. King Joe offered no consideration of grievances, nor reconciliation. He foreclosed peaceful resolution of differences and demanded total victory over his political opponent.
Has the King made his desire to crush the rebellion clear? King Joe hasn’t simply made his intentions clear; he has unleashed his forces to crush the rebels. His general, Merrick Garland, has engaged in a coordinated campaign of lawfare to harass and imprison
- The King’s electoral challenger (Donald Trump),
- Followers protesting the King’s policies (January 6 trespassers), and
- Reporters reporting on the King’s abuses (James O’Keefe and Steve Baker).
Have Americans been removed from the protection of the Crown? On his first day in office, King Joe signed a series of executive orders opening our border to foreign invasion. When Texas attempted to defend its borders, the administration began a campaign of lawfare to allow the invasion to continue. King Joe has effectively removed his citizens from the umbrella of government protection.
Politicians of the left exacerbated the assault on citizens by decriminalizing anti-social behavior (i.e., drug abuse, property crimes, vagrancy, etc.), and criminalizing police activities. Government protection of U.S. citizens has been effectively removed, while attacks (via crime) are skyrocketing. Many of our big cities are approaching the “unlivable” stage.
Are the final three dominoes for the chain reaction in place?
- King made a declaration of rebellion – check
- King stated his intent to crush the rebellion with no reconciliation – check
- Americans removed from the protection of their government – check
The chain reaction is prepared, and awaits the toppling of the first domino. Are current conditions making that, more or less likely?
In many places, crime is already an acute crisis – just as planned. Pittsburgh informed its residents, that due to manpower shortages, police will not respond to non-life-threatening calls between 3 am and 7 am. The city gave thieves and vandals a daily 4-hour period for unrestricted operations. How long will it be before vigilantes fill the vacuum?
Residents of deep blue Hartford CT have begun patrolling their neighborhoods with firearms. As crime continues to increase and the government refuses its protection, we should expect an increase in citizens taking matters into their own hands.
The United States is undergoing a great migration. Citizens are moving in vast numbers between blue and red states – based on politics. The ideological lines have been drawn, and citizens are abandoning reconciliation. They are instead choosing sides.
Gun sales are at an all-time high and ammunition suppliers can’t keep up with the demand. The Trace estimates the number of guns in circulation in the United States at between 400 and 500 million – and the pace of production is increasing. If the government will not provide protection, the people are preparing to protect themselves.
NBC News reports that the number of “preppers” has doubled since 2017 – to over 20 million people. A growing number of Americans expect a civilization changing crisis – and are preparing accordingly.
People are picking sides, acquiring tools, and preparing for what they increasingly believe to be inevitable – a tipping point with an unknown outcome. The dominoes are lined up, and waiting for the chain reaction to be triggered – with one tiny push.
Will citizens begin dispensing the justice that the government refuses to provide? When the government attempts to stop “citizen justice,” will it become the enemy of the citizens? Will that topple the first domino?
Will imprisoning Donald Trump, or refusing to certify his election, cause the first domino to fall? Will King Joe mobilize the military to confront the inevitable protesters who were denied self-governance? Will he deliver on his threat to meet AR-15s with F-15s? Will a Kent State type accident be the next “shot heard around the world”?
There are many directions from which that first domino push could come. Unfortunately, the radicals who have taken over our institutions show no inclination to mitigate the risks.
Our current chief executive stood before a red backdrop in Philadelphia screaming at what he called the “semi-fascist MAGA extremists” – people who hold different political views than his own. Does he have a cool enough head to avoid tipping the first domino?
