The rise of violence in American culture, particularly the alarming frequency of school shootings, raises profound questions about the roots of this disturbing trend. While many attribute the surge in violence to mental health issues, there’s a compelling argument that connects the rise in violence to the declining influence of Judeo-Christian values in our society.
As our culture becomes more secular, the moral compass that traditionally guided individuals is becoming increasingly fragmented. The tragic incidents of school shootings often expose a deep sense of confusion and desperation. A notable example is the Columbine High School massacre, where one of the perpetrators specifically targeted individuals who identified as Christians, making it evident that the assailant’s actions were influenced by a disdain for religious values.
Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, the perpetrators of the Columbine High School massacre, engaged in disturbing conversations during the attack. Reports suggest that Klebold, at one point, confronted students and questioned their faith, specifically targeting Christians. Witnesses recall that he asked victims about their religious beliefs, and if they identified as Christians, he reportedly made statements implying that they would soon meet their God and then murdered them. This unsettling interaction highlights the twisted and violent mindset of the attackers, who deliberately singled out individuals based on their faith during the tragic events of that day.
Judeo-Christian principles have historically played a pivotal role in shaping moral norms and ethical boundaries in American society. The decline of these values has left a void that can contribute to a moral and spiritual vacuum, leading some individuals to seek purpose through violence or destructive actions.
The question remains; how do we reintegrate moral values back into our culture in a woke society who claims we are all just “mistakes” of the universe; a cancer on the planet? It’s essential to recognize the impact of secularization on the decay of societal morality. One way is to fix it; be in a Church pew on Sunday and realize you’re made by God and have a real purpose in life.

Can we tell the whole truth here? All of Western civilization is based on Christian values and culture, and when we abandon that, we abandon the culture which has made the West the greatest, strongest, and most civilized culture the world has ever seen.
I’d add another point. Even in families which attend church with their children, far too often it is the mother taking the kids to church, while the father stays at home. This both takes men away from an important part of child-rearing, but sends the message, at least to the boys, that church isn’t all that important.
