CDC Data That's Not Being Advertised

I have been tracking Center for Disease Controlís data and providing it to others since March 11, 2020. This is the 1 August 2021 update on COVID-19 deaths. One may note that the DELTA variant has had no impact on the downward trajectory of deaths. In fact, Delta has caused so few hospitalizations that result in death that a government report from England indicates that the fatality rate for the delta variant there is 0.1%, compared with 1.9% for the original coronavirus. The difference is a factor of 19. Keep in mind that the 1.9% is the percentage of people who had SARS-CoV-2, went to the hospital, eventually died with COVID-19 mentioned anywhere on the death certificate. The 0.1% mortality rate of those hospitalized is about the same as our annual summer flu.
Influenza can cause mild to severe symptoms, such as:
a sore throat
But certainly not death except in those who normally die from summer, flu-like illnesses.
The reason the Delta variant is so similar to the annual summer flu is that it is the annual summer flu renamed to COVID Delta variant.
Get ready for the next variant, Lambda, we called it the winter cold before 2020. It will start making its way across the US in September just as it has done for at least the last 100 years.
I was asked by a distinguished colleague to post a CDC graphic of past flu seasons data. As one can see, the 2020-2021 flu season was a full 3 standard deviations below the 10-year average for hospital visits. However, when added to COVID-19 visits 2020-2021 flu season falls within the normal range of Hospital visits for flu like illnesses. Since we now know that the COVID-19 test (2020-2021) was actually testing for A type viruses, this makes mathematical sense and is not an outlier.
One may also note that the Delta variant (rapid increase on right side of 2020-2021 season) is carried as a flu like illness by CDC as it is a significant summer flu.
Perhaps the best news of all is that those under 18 have just experienced the safest year in recorded American History for Pediatric deaths... only one (1) death occurred among America's children due to flu like illness during the 2020-2021 season!
