News items that need some serious sunshine thrown their way
This is the sixth post in the ongoing weekly feature that highlights news and commentary on important geopolitical, cultural, and economic issues that the Democrat-media complex buries because they expose the hypocrisies associated with the continuing Marxist-Democrat narrative. Everything is properly sourced and linked for follow-up reading, whether from legacy media, independent sources, or social media.

A Pretty Incredible Statistic. The Democrat-media complex refuse to give the Trump administration credit for everything. That goes double for anything related to the success in shutting down border invasions by illegal aliens, as well as the spike in deportation of those caught in the U.S. by ICE and other law enforcement officers. And so it is reported that 94% asylum claims to the U.S. were denied in June, thanks to a combination of judicial firings and federal policy reforms spearheaded by DHS and DoJ. Through deliberate policy choices, the Biden regime facilitated entry via the asylum back door by implementing a low screening standard, providing insufficient detention resources during processing, failing to rapidly and accurately process applicants, and providing mass paroles to clear the backlog. In short, a series of policies that lead to de facto admission of people who entered the U.S. illegally or without visas. DSA Candidate for the U.S. House Brags about “Black Socialism.” Marxist critical theory keeps morphing into concepts ever more radical as the years pass. Critical theory became critical race theory and all the different social justice pathologies, and now an even more extreme concept – black socialism – has emerged in academic and political circles. Black socialism is socialism revised around the historical experience of racial slavery, colonialism, and black labor, aiming at collective economic control plus black self-determination. And now Darializa Chevalier, a candidate for New York’s 13th congressional district seat, espouses that divisive (and racist) nonsense openly in an interview with ELR News. Funny how DSA is now embraced by Chuck Schumer and Gruesome Newsom as part of the Democrat Party’s “big tent” operation. And not so funny how the Democrat Party and their media sycophants are trying to thread the needle on this (relative silence on leftwing extremism except for a few dog whistles to the DSA activists critical to Democrat Get-Out-The-Vote efforts this year). The Master Troller Strikes Again! President Trump is frequently referred to as the “master troller” by political friend (hilarious) and foe (derision) alike. “Master trolling” is the practiced use of insult, joke, exaggeration, and bait so that opponents cannot tell what is policy, what is performance, and what is a trial balloon. A nickname, a meme, a threat delivered with a wink, or a claim later walked back as “just kidding” forces critics to choose between ignoring him and looking weak, or answering and amplifying him. The move is cheap for him and expensive for them: one post can dominate a news cycle, rally supporters who enjoy “owning the libs,” and make solemn rebuttals look humorless. Ambiguity is the point. If the line lands, it sets the agenda; if it backfires, it was only a joke. That keeps opponents off balance because they must spend time, money, and moral capital reacting to provocations they did not choose. Outrage confirms the story that Democrat elites are fragile; their silence lets the frame harden. A win-win for the president!
A few examples:
· “He who saves his Country does not violate any Law.”
· “I love the smell of deportations in the morning…” (a play on a famous line from the movie Apocalypse Now)
· He amplified an image of himself on the papal throne between Francis’s death and the conclave that selected Pope Leo.
· Naming the Gulf of America.
· Naming Lake America.
And the latest example of the master troller in action is his Truth Social post of a map showing New Mexico being renamed as “New America.” The more one reflects on that, the more appropriate that change would be, as the current name gives La Raza a political toehold on their unending efforts to reclaim the desert southwest for Mexico. Why DHS Asked DoJ to Look into ERIC. The non-profit Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC) was supposed to assist states clean their voter rolls. However, numerous election integrity advocates began to question its supposed impartiality, not to mention how it shared states’ DMV data with the left-wing activist group CEIR and David Becker, who helped launch the ERIC in 2012. ERIC is a state-membership nonprofit. Member/partner states send voter-roll and motor-vehicle data so the system can flag movers, deaths, and duplicates. Most crucially, ERIC produces records of so-called “eligible but unregistered” people, which election integrity experts claim facilitate the Democrat Party’s ballot harvesting operations in several states (mailing unrequested ballots to unregistered people and then harvesting their ballots marked for Democrat candidates). No wonder the Democrat-media complex are silent about DHS’s request to DoJ to investigate ERIC operations. Read more in this extensive article linked below:

More Workers, Higher Wagers, Fewer Layoffs! Americans continue to benefit directly from President Trump’s mass deportation of illegal aliens and closing the border to new arrivals. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Tuesday, “We’re seeing, too, somehow supply and demand does matter in the labor market, especially when it comes to immigration. We are seeing that workers without a college degree — their wages, their employment situation is the best that it’s been in over a decade, back to President Trump’s first term, and we’re seeing the bottom 25 percent of wage earners, the wages increased almost 3.5 or three times more than the top 25 percent, with a median at about three and a half. So, somehow, when we stopped the mass unfettered immigration, and add 2-3 million deportations, working Americans make more money and have more jobs.” Meanwhile, Democrats and their media allies are dead silent on this great news for Americans, which is a complete debunking of an oft-repeated Democrat narrative that mass immigration does not affect lower income Americans. California Democrats Prioritize Aid to Illegals Once Again. Thanks to decades of Democrat-controlled Sacramento, California taxpayers pay for a cornucopia of benefits for illegal aliens. Since federal rules block full Medicaid, SNAP, SSI, and most cash welfare for people without lawful status, Californians fund the costs of those programs mainly through the state General Fund via “state-only “programs. The largest item is full-scope Medi-Cal (including In-Home Supportive Services): the state expanded it to income-eligible undocumented residents of all ages; the Legislative Analyst’s Office put General Fund spending for that expansion population around $10–11 billion a year before a January 2026 freeze on new adult enrollment (existing adult enrollees can stay; children and pregnancy-related care remain open; adult dental was cut and a $30 premium starts later). K–12 schooling is a constitutional duty for every resident child, documented or not. Mixed-status families can get CalWORKs cash for citizen children even if the parent is ineligible; some undocumented filers can claim state refundable tax credits; the state also pays nonprofits for immigration legal aid, unaccompanied-minor services, and related contracts. Emergency Medicaid and some pregnancy care still draw partial federal money; everything beyond that is a state policy choice paid by California taxes. Yeah, and those would be DEMOCRAT policy choices! And to think Gavin Newsom wants to export this nonsense to the rest of the U.S. as the next president (perish the thought!).
An article posted last week noted that AB 540 in-state college tuition plus the California Dream Act open Cal Grants, campus aid, fee waivers, and state Dream Loans are made available to “qualifying undocumented students” (illegal aliens) at California taxpayer expense. As the article puts it succinctly, “Citizens get the bill. Illegal aliens get the discount.” Read more about it in the below linked article.

Non-Profits in Los Angeles ARE the Problem. Los Angeles is pouring huge public sums into homelessness through a thicket of government-funded nonprofits that act like agencies without public-agency rules, and that the money vanishes while streets stay broken and homelessness remains rampant. Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) funds more than 100 partners. For example, Special Service for Groups took about $264 million in FY2025, 98.5 percent from government grants, after Measure H and Measure A sales taxes supercharged its budget from tens of millions to a quarter-billion. That structure hides spending from open-records and open-meeting laws, pays executives like a private firm, and outruns competence. As described in the article linked below, the problem is not charity but a shadow government that grows with every tax measure and still cannot convert cash into direct housing for the homeless. Mayor Bass and the rest of the Democrats who control local governments in LA want to sweep the corruption under the rug and keep the gravy train going, and the Democrat-controlled media are more than willing to assist.

A Dallas Wall Street in the Offing. Socialist NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s tax and regulatory policies and proposals have raised the price and political risk of financial services companies (and many others) staying put. He has pushed a corporate-rate jump from about 7.25% toward 11.5% (taking the combined city–state–MTA stack toward the low 20s if Albany agreed), a 2-point surcharge on incomes over $1 million, and a pied-à-terre tax on luxury second homes that did take effect and was marketed with a shot at Ken Griffin. Those sit on top of an already high combined personal rate for top earners, a June 2026 rent freeze on stabilized units, talk of city-run groceries and fare-free buses, and rhetoric that treats finance as a piggy bank. Ratings shops flipped NYC’s outlook to negative after inauguration; city bond yields have widened as investors price a thinner tax base.
Texas officials have treated all of that as a recruiting gift. To attract relocations from NYC, Texas is making a push into the infrastructure of financial markets themselves. As noted in the article linked below, “[t]he Texas Stock Exchange, backed by BlackRock, Citadel Securities, Charles Schwab and Goldman itself, raised $161 million, making it the most well-capitalized exchange applicant in U.S. history.” Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson calls that “the best thing ever to happen to Dallas”: no Texas income tax, falling local property rates, and a pitch that Mamdani’s “anti-capitalist” line will turn a trickle of relocations from NYC to Dallas into a flood. Meanwhile, the Democrats and their legacy media allies are mum about people and companies relocating out of high-tax New York for low-tax states like Texas. Another Democrat Hoax is Debunked. More Democrat political trickery during campaign season! Ohio Democrat gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton’s campaign turned a Canfield Fair scuffle into a national “political violence” story that has now been essentially debunked. According to Acton, an armed man had “lunged” at her, people in the crowd were hurt, and outlets from USA Today to CBS ran with an attack on the candidate. Mahoning County Prosecutor Lynn Maro’s review of the video concluded otherwise. Patrick Havas walked into the tent filming on his phone and calling Acton’s name to question her; he never reached her, never drew or brandished the guns he was legally carrying, and investigators found no threats on his phone. He still faces misdemeanor assault, disorderly conduct, and inducing panic for shoving through the crowd and knocking two people down—a messy fair-tent incident, not an assassination lunge. As noted in the below-linked article, this was a sympathy play by Acton, noting that her framing of the incident circled the country while the correction has been buried by the Democrat-media complex.

Ilhan Omar Clams Up. The woman has never been particularly bashful before a camera, however, Rep. Ilhan Omar declined to answer Fox News questions on Wednesday about a Minneapolis police search of the apartment where her son, Adnan Hirsi, lives with a convicted felon with 10 past convictions (mostly misdemeanors, to be honest). Omar seems to be regularly associated with criminals, most prominently with the Somalis who were at the center of the Feeding Our Future (~$250 million child-nutrition fraud in Minnesota). Dozens of defendants, most Somali American, were convicted or pleaded guilty. Omar sponsored the 2020 MEALS Act, which loosened USDA meal-site rules that facilitated the fraud. She also promoted the Safari Restaurant (later tied to the scheme) on Somali TV and held events there. Convicted founder Aimee Bock claimed Omar’s office helped with waivers and that sites in the Somali community worked through her connections. Democrats Continue to Demonize Charlie Kirk. A tried and true Democrat tactic is to demonize one’s political opponents. They do that routinely with President Trump (hence the term “Trump Derangement Syndrome”). But that also applies to Trump’s allies – in this case even the deceased! In another underpublicized story, “journalist Mark Halperin told SiriusXM’s Megyn Kelly on Monday that he believes the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk could have serious consequences for Democrats in the upcoming elections.” Halperin said that Democrats continue to demonize Kirk because that is “the only way they think.” He stated further that Democrats “don’t understand that he was literally an historic figure. His memory, if Turning Point can execute, if the vice president and his team can execute, I think it could change the whole [mid-term] election.” And of course the Democrat-media complex have ignored the Kirk vigils and commemorative rallies surrounding the one-year anniversary of his assassination on 10 September. $5,000 Payout if Republicans Win the Mid-Terms! Lastly, during his speech at the Republicans’ Mid-Term Convention in Dallas on Wednesday, President Trump “announced a dividend of $ 5,000 for every adult American if Republicans win the midterms. He said it will be ‘very much like a successful company will do a cash distribution to a shareholders, or like last year when I gave our great members of the military $1776.’” This is just like the president to turn the decades-long tax-and-spend promises of the Democrat Party inside-out by characterizing his payout as a capitalist mechanism instead of Democrat socialist promises. Speaking of which, the Democrat pitch over the years that was hammered into voters’ heads by the Democrat media a repeating bargain: tax the top, spend on you. Some of the memorable lines (bribes) were Clinton’s middle-class tax cut and “invest in people,” Gore’s Social Security “lockbox,” Obama’s pledge that 95 percent of working families would not see a tax increase and that you could keep your doctor and plan, plus stimulus checks and Affordable Care Act subsidies. The Sanders–Warren lane made “Medicare for All,” free public college, a wealth tax, and the Green New Deal household phrases. Biden ran on no tax hike under $400,000, expanded Child Tax Credit cash, student-loan forgiveness, and Build Back Better industrial subsidies; Harris added price-gouging crackdowns and credit expansions. Local versions—city groceries, fare-free transit, pied-à-terre taxes—rhyme with the same offer: someone richer pays, households get a check, a benefit, or a frozen bill. By the way, all of those Democrat promises added up to a whole lot more than President Trump’s $5,000 dividend (where do you think that $40 trillion debt came from, anyway?)!
