Is It All In The Name?

Modern American problems. For a large and growing group of Americans who find themselves without a political home in either the GOP, Democratic or Libertarian Parties- the problem is finding a name that other Americans can identify with and recognize.

This group is what many of us call, “True Progressives (emphasis on the upper case “P”)”. Not a name that slips off the tongue very easily. Many of us instead just use ‘Progressive’ for expediency and recognition instead.

But this is a problem. The decrepit and corrupt wing of the Democratic Party who call themselves ‘liberal-progressives’ have both the media and the American people conditioned to believe that they are actually Progressive!

The stale and do-nothing chipping concrete that is the GOP always wakes up and fires off one-liners when it hears “progressive.”

The Libertarian Party has a problem that is inverse to ours; it has a name but doesn’t know what its platform is.

Just as they are not Progressive, they are also not liberal- indeed they are often illiberal. Constantly calling for people to not use their free speech ability and for ‘cancelling’ those who they disagree with. Toe the line that they have drawn with the ‘liberal-progressives’ or you are damned!

So, in explaining what we do believe in as True Progressives, many of us have found ourselves instead using examples of positions, policy or using names of well-known people to say “this is what/who we believe in.” We use concepts like free speech, the right to bear arms, the right to a free press. Laissez Faire economics and government attitudes towards all of us. “Live and let live” within the boundaries of the Constitution, its Amendments and lesser law.

To progress policies and governance that are common sense and self-evident. We are not for radical change as the liberal-progressives are, but for a refinement of the rights and laws we now have. We want a smaller government, pared down, and made more effective in enforcing the laws and regulations we now have.

We believe in making budgets that favor Americans. Not the massive porkulus bills as the American Recovery Act. In which, I believe, more money was set aside for the Sri Lankan Navy and for the study of gender equality in Pakistan!

We believe, strongly, that American needs to disengage militarily from the world- one of President Trump’s policies that we agreed with and frankly, why so many of us-absent our own candidate- advocated for the re-election of Trump over Biden. At least Trump was disengaging from these never-ending wars and decades of the US being the “World Police.” Calling for our allies to be responsible for their own defenses. Indeed, isn’t he the first President since Carter to NOT have launched any new military actions?

And, as I stated, we often find ourselves saying things like “I believe what Tulsi Gabbard and Rand Paul believe in.” It is a safe bet, that if these two-or any other two seemingly opposing politicians, were to compare socio – political notes, they would find they have far more in agreement with each other than do- let’s say, President Biden and VP Harris have in common! To this, and whenever a democrat or republican politician or talking head is asked to react to the common ground on common sense people like Gabbard and Paul seem to have with each other, we hear them trounce out with the old talking points: “How can Paul agree with Gabbard she wants to take away your guns!” Or: ”How can Gabbard agree with Paul, he wants to outlaw abortion!”

Both of which are always used as staples to disrupt affairs, anytime “cross aisle, bi partisan” actions seem possible.

They are senseless and without merit- Republicans get abortions and Democrats buy guns.

This co-dependent relationship of mutual support between the Democrats and GOP has only served to keep themselves and their media and corporate partners in power and influence of America and its people — the Duopoly.

Perhaps this is the problem in finding a name? The issue of what should be self-evident to all Americans? We can’t find a good descriptive short name that encapsulates the values and policies that should be self-evident to all as common sense? A ‘media approved’ slick off the tongue Party name is needed. Maybe we should hire whatever PR firm just made those US Army recruiting ads?

Perhaps the “Common Sensican Party?”

  1. We don’t need a new name. We need an awakening. You could say that we have become complacent and distant to our previous beliefs, or seemingly quit caring about the future.
It used to be that you lived your life in a way that made your children better off than you. How can you do that with a government changing the rules, continuously, throwing out small bites about taxing your wealth, seizing your 401k and taxing generations of hard work through the Internal revenue code concerning inheritance, and so many other ways?

Just yesterday, the Buffoon-in-Chief decided that he was going to release a million barrels of crude from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, in order to reduce gas prices, for 180 days strraight. Mathematically, that is impossible, after you consider that, when Trump was in office, he filled that empty tank back up, due to it being left empty from the Obama and Bush years. If Biden refills the SPR tank back up, he will be replacing that tank with extremely higher priced crude oil, which was meant for wartime and natural disasters and such. Since he created the gas shortage and all the surrounding misery, by using Executive Actions, the Buffoon-in-Chief is the one to blame.
I’m not worried about a new name. I’m concerned for our future, because we have been defrauded by an ideology. It will take an awakening. Maybe marketing has a place, but, since Mars Candy(not just them) thinks marketing is now for social garbage, like little boys wearing dresses, someone needs to come to the aid of marketing as an entity.

We need something more than a name change.
