After watching the Democrat Party struggle with President Trump’s address to the Joint Session of Congress, why were the Democrats unable to stand for a 13-year-old boy with brain cancer, a young women severely injured on a volleyball court by a “trans-woman”, the mothers of young women murdered by illegal aliens, nor a man released from a Russian gulag? Is it because they live in unabashed fear of Trump? And in this regard why do many Republicans? Yet why should a great many others, the majority of the country, approve of him?
The progressive Left casts aspersions about his moral character yet Clinton’s “spice of wickedness” didn’t seem to bother them. DNC talking points say he’s all about his billionaire friends but they don’t care about the billionaires on their side. They said he was going to weaponize the government agencies against us, yet Obama and Biden doing that very thing didn’t bother them. They chastised him because they said he was an authoritarian, yet Biden’s dictatorial actions didn’t bother them. Why then so fearful?
The current talking points are that his tariffs are going to drive us into a recession. But let’s look at Canadian tariffs on US goods: Milk—270%; Butter—298%; Cars—25%; Aluminum—45%. The data comes from the Canada News Network. I could go on but is this any way to treat your neighbor to the south? So maybe tariffs are appropriate. Another talking point was the Continuing Resolution in Congress. The Democrats fear mongering lies were, if passed, that it would deprive Medicaid and Medicare from those who desperately need them. That it would give the richest man in the world more power and access to citizens’ private information (just like the IRS, credit card companies, banks, the Social Security Administration, healthcare providers to name just a few). The Democrats have no answer on how to lead the country forward so they revert to the same old saw learning nothing from 2024.
So let’s return to why many progressives consider Trump a pariah (someone that is despised for my friends in Blue cities). Maybe it’s because he is obviously not one of the political class. Maybe it’s because he has no fear of speaking out. From the transgender brouhaha, to Israel’s war on Hamas, to the Russia-Ukraine war, to the anti-semitism shown on U.S. college campuses, nothing is off limits. And we haven’t had a POTUS like that in a very long time. So we finally have a man that doesn’t accept the “old boys’ club politics.” And as shown by the 2024 election, a majority of the country feels that Trump, with all his foibles, is more like them. The “movement” that has been built around him has captured the very spirit of America.
Yet even Republicans are affected as much, or some perhaps more, than Democrats. So if there is indeed a populous uprising among voters, politicians may fear losing face, losing their identity as someone to be admired and esteemed, and more importantly, losing their political future. But they on the GOP side are returning to the fold while Democrats seem to be trapped on the 20% side of the issues that concern Americans and have no ideas on how to respond. My advice, return to common sense. And quit singing. You’re terrible at it. But they simply return to scare tactics, personal denigration, and holding up ping-pong paddles. And no real ideas of how to move the country forward.
So the bottom-line questions we need to ask ourselves are these. Does your life, your children’s lives, your parent’s lives, now seem more free and forward looking? Do you feel more secure? Do you approve of how foreign threats are handled? Are you positive on where our country is headed? Or, do you throw up your hands thinking there is nothing you can do such that you feel disconnected and apart?
Well, consider that Trump appears to have pulled many from that latter malaise. He has given our fellow Americans the gift of voice they never thought they had. And perhaps that’s what the Left and the bureaucrats of the administrative state really fear. Not the man, but the mission.
