The Universe Displays The Depth Of God’s Love For You – And Provides Perfect Hope

(This article is from a message I preached in my church on November 30, 2025 - I’ve filled in some spots as I don’t read messages word for word)

PSALMS 19:1 – THE HEAVENS DECLARE THE GLORY OF GOD, AND THE SKY ABOVE PROCLAIMS HIS HANDIWORK.

Imagine you were there, the moment God made the universe. God was “Hovering over the surface of the deep,” and you are a witness to the beginning of human history. You don’t know what came before; you only know that at this moment, something incredible is happening: God speaks, and all around you is light. Thus begins the greatest show ever, and over the next few days, God will finish by creating His real masterpiece, THE HUMAN RACE.

Fast forward to today, and here you are:

The earth itself is just a vessel. Like a ship, it floats but would serve no purpose if empty. God would have poured out his love and creativity into something that cannot return that LOVE. (But YOU can)

– Earth is 24,902 miles around, with a 1 in 10³²² chance to meet all requirements to sustain life. 1 in 10⁵⁰ power is statistically impossible.

– Earth is 93,000,000 miles from our Sun

– A solar system of 8 planets where the rest could fit between the Earth and the Moon, but instead spread out 4 billion miles to Neptune. Further to Pluto. (I won’t debate the Pluto is or is not a planet issue.)

– 6 Earths could fit across Saturn’s Rings.

– Where the stars are suns, and some stars are 1 million times bigger than ours, which, when they explode, become a supernova and sometimes blackholes

– A single cell compared to the size of the sun is like comparing the United States to the Milky Way galaxy.

– A galaxy dwarfed by the IC 1011 galaxy, 350 million light-years away, and 1 million times the size of ours. (A light year is 5.88 trillion miles) As light moves 186,000 miles per second. (Light can wrap Earth just short of 8 x in a second)

– In a spaceship starting at the sun, going light speed (5 hours to Pluto, 4 years to the next closest star, 5,000 years to the edge of the galaxy, 50,000 years to the next galaxy)

– Universe with planets spinning CW, CCW, on their side, made of diamond, made of gas alone, all water, covered in volcanoes, all sizes, so dark no light is reflected. God is the greatest artist on an infinite tapestry.

– BIG in GOD’s eyes is too big to imagine.

– So is SMALL.

o The human brain is made of 10 billion cells in exact order and purpose. All at once – or not at all.

o The individual cell has propulsion, energy use, information exchange, waste removal, design schematics that we could call software, hardware, and code, and much more. 1 in 10^40,000 odds of self-assembly – all at once, or not at all.

SO WHAT? WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

HEBREWS 10:23

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.

It is on this “hope” that I want to focus.

The GOD of the universe that created such magnificence, a kind we can’t begin to understand or comprehend, came to earth to give us each eternal hope.

No matter how vast the expanses of the Universe, or the depths of detail, it’s all about YOU and His LOVE for YOU. A limitless universe puts on display God’s limitless love for you.

If we are convinced that we are the product of random mutations over billions of years, we will accept the idea that, when we die, we will only cease to exist. WHERE IS THE HOPE IN THAT?

Hope must be placed in Someone or Something.

– Worldly HOPE – (wish upon a star) (I hope that I passed that science test.)

– Biblical HOPE – (Confidence/Assurance) (I know that Christ saved me and that I cannot lose that salvation – John 10:28-29) If we could lose our salvation, that would mean Christ is not sufficient and doesn’t keep His promises. But that’s not true, so we are safe in His hands despite our sinful nature continuing until we join Him.

– Hebrews 11:1 – “Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” (Assurance, Conviction)

PSALMS 2:1-2

Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain? 2 The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the Lord and against his anointed….

• WHAT HOPE IS THERE IN THE GAMES OF KINGS, DICTATORS, AND POLITICIANS? NONE, FOR THEY CAN DO NOTHING PERMANENT FOR YOU, ONLY GOD. INSTEAD, LET US REMEMBER WHAT IS IN GOD’S WORD.

PSALM 8:3-4

3 When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, 4 what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?

• ARE YOU IN AWE OF THE FACT THAT GOD, WHO CREATED SO MUCH, LOVES EACH OF US MORE THAN HE LOVES EVERYTHING ELSE HE MADE?

IT’S WHY THE PSALMIST SAYS:

PSALM 18:2

2 The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.

PSALM 50:6

6 The heavens declare his righteousness, for God himself is judge!

• ALL WILL STAND IN JUDGMENT. NOBODY WILL AVOID IT. WE LOOK AT THE WORLD AROUND US AND WONDER WHEN CERTAIN PEOPLE WILL BE BROUGHT TO JUSTICE – THEY WILL BE, BY THE MOST JUST OF ALL BEINGS.
• WE WHO KNOW JESUS CHRIST AND HAVE BEEN SAVED MUST REMEMBER THAT OUR HOPE IS NOT IN THE HERE AND NOW.
• RICH OR POOR, HEALTHY OR SICK, YOUNG OR OLD, NONE OF THIS MATTERS IN THE ETERNAL. NOR DOES IT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH WHETHER OR NOT YOU ARE IN GOD’S WILL ON EARTH.

ROMANS 8:18-25

18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. 19 For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. 23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. 24 For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

1 CORINTHIANS 6:20

20 for you were bought with a price..

• THE GOD OF AN INFINITELY COMPLICATED AND PERFECTLY ORDERED UNIVERSE CAME TO EARTH TO PURCHASE EACH OF US WITH THE GREATEST SACRIFICE OF ALL TIME. THAT SHOULD GIVE US HOPE.

1 PETER 1:3-9

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, 5 who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

• THOSE OF US ALREADY SAVED BY GRACE ALONE, THROUGH FAITH ALONE, IN CHRIST ALONE MUST REJOICE IN THE GLORIOUS HOPE WE ARE GIVEN BECAUSE WE ARE SAFELY HELD IN THE ARMS OF GOD, FOREVER.

— TO THOSE WHO WANT TO EXPERIENCE THIS HOPE, I WILL SHARE THIS.

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

• WE ALL SIN, NONE OF US CAN MEASURE UP TO GOD’S STANDARD.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

• THIS IS THE SPIRITUAL DEATH THAT COMES FROM BEING SEPARATED FROM OUR CREATOR WHO ONLY WANTS TO ENJOY ETERNITY WITH US BY HIS SIDE.

Romans 5:8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

• YOU MAY SAY HOW COULD GOD SAVE SOMEONE LIKE ME? THINK AGAIN OF WHAT HE CREATED, AND KNOW THAT IT PALES IN COMPARISON TO HIS LOVE FOR YOU AND TO WHAT HE WILL AND DID SACRIFICE FOR US – FOR YOU.
• Romans 10:9-10;13 9 if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved……. 13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

HIS MESSAGE IS SIMPLE AND PERFECT. DO NOT BE DETERRED BY THOSE SEEKING TO COMPLICATE GOD’S MESSAGE OF SALVATION. YOU CANNOT EARN SALVATION, YOU CAN ONLY ACCEPT IT. I PRAY YOU ACCEPT IT TODAY, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE.

BECAUSE — Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

THERE IS PERFECT HOPE, BECAUSE THERE IS A PERFECT GOD WHO CREATED EVERYTHING AND MORE THAN ANYTHING WANTS TO COME INTO YOUR LIFE FOREVER. GOD CREATED AN EXPANSIVE UNIVERSE WITH NO END, PURELY TO REFLECT HIS UNENDING AND IMMEASURABLE LOVE FOR US. IF YOU HAVEN’T ACCEPTED HIM, DO IT TODAY. HE IS WAITING.
