“America is a creedal nation, so any immigrant is as American as a descendant of the Mayflower’s Pilgrims.”
False.
“We are a nation of immigrants, so limits on immigration are un-American.”
False.
America is more than a short list of ideas and a lot of foreign immigration.
Previously, I wrote that being an American is about a Creed ++. It’s about shared ideas, + loyalty to our land, and + patriotic fierceness. It’s about accepting the Biblical Worldview of the American Revolution and fully assimilating in American Culture.
The creedal ideas are presented clearly in Samuel Huntington’s last book, “Who Are We?” The American Creed evolved since 1776 as the basis for our consensus culture.
Furthermore, as Frederick Jackson Turner noted in his “Frontier Thesis”, America as a nation of pioneers and colonists, not immigrants, made America – America.
Yes, the frontier closed in 1890 (Alaska coughs politely), but it wasn’t far away in 1776 in every respect.Danger and death on the frontier destroyed British class distinctions. Egalitarian hardships promoted individuals based on merit, courage, initiative, and intelligence. Not uniformly or perfectly, but far differently from the stratified social structure of Europe.
Alexis de Toqueville captured how different America was almost 50 years after the Revolution.
America remains so uniquely different that even when today’s Bolsheviks mock American Exceptionalism they actually validate the concept.
And, the Bolsheviks are the problem.
The American Bolsheviks’ ideas evolved from the French Revolution to challenge the consensus culture of American Civilization.
The Americans who fight back have a frontier connection. Either by blood or by assimilation to a Subculture still connected to the frontier.
Demographics are destiny.
According to Grok (AI), 340-345m people live in the U.S.
Searching for the arrival to America for over 50% of one’s ancestors or themselves makes for some fuzzy math after generations of intermarriage accounting for 330m Americans.
Like the Vice President of the U.S. married to the daughter of immigrants.
Roughly 9m (2.7%) claim over 50% of their ancestry as Indians, Pacific Islanders, or Alaska Natives.
Almost a third of Americans (105m) had most of their ancestors here between 1607 and 1783. That includes 45-47m Blacks.
Another 65m Americans’ ancestors shared the American experience from the end of the Revolution to the closing of the Frontier.
The descendants of the immigrant experience – coming to an already existing America and assimilating well from the closing of the frontier to the 1965 Hart-Cellar Act – are 60m. Interestingly, it’s estimated 100m Americans have “one” ancestor who came through Ellis Island.
Consequently, 234m Americans’ ancestors lived in the consensus culture of the American Creed.
Since 1965, 75m Americans are descended from people who came to the rich welfare state America whose “educators” increasingly taught Cultural Marxism instead of the American Creed.
Add at least 15 million illegal aliens to make 90m people with no discernible connection to the American Creed. Which means no assimilation to the ideas of the Biblical Worldview of the American Revolution and the shared experience of the frontier.
Those patriotic newer Americans choosing to make the connection in their minds and hearts are a minority of newer arrivals.
Look at a voting overlay on a U.S. map.
Regional subcultures matter. New England, the Middle Atlantic, most major urban areas, and the Left Coast adopted the ideas of Cultural Marxism. They’re ruled by Bolsheviks.
But look hard at the rural areas in the same regions. They vote differently. Guess who are the ancestors of the people in those regional areas?
Rural America with the exception of workers arriving since 1965, has ancestral ties to the American Creed and frontier times.
America’s connection to its frontier experience defines Americanism more than its immigrant experience because – before 1965 the immigrants assimilated the ideas forged on the frontier as their own.
Some new immigrants still do. They are great Americans.
