The Vietnam War was a landmark event of the Cold War for World and U.S. history. It was a defining dividing line for our Baby Boomer generation. It opened a split across America which came as a shock after our greatest period of national unity ever in World War II.
For us, Vietnam was personal.
The illegal alien invasion of the United States is so huge it’s like a glacier to our idea of a melting pot. This glacier will demolish our melting pot and snuff out our flame of liberty and opportunity.
This past week our little town got hit by a storm cell that was tornado-like in all but name and dark funnel. It was our hardest hit since the storm of the century, Hurricane Isabel, in 2003. This one was all wind, not water. Living on the shore of the Chesapeake Bay we’re used to getting both. A no name Nor-easter will flood with inches of past records. We weather them all. We weather whatever the storm.
The storms of nature and man will always confront us.
Islam doesn’t rise to the level of a real religion in Western Civilization. It’s at the same level of civilization as the Aztec religion. No one should treat it the same as the other religions in Western Civilization – Orthodox, Roman Catholic, and Protestant Christianity, Judaism, and Secular Humanism. (Yes, Secular Humanism is a religion. A modern paganism, but still a modern faith that supports a totalitarian ideology). Moreover, Islam is an ideology, identity, and a complete, backward, barabaric culture which is the inherent, implacable, irredeemable enemy of Western Civilization.
What could be a lower form of human being than a Jewish guard while a prisoner – a KAPO – in a WW 2 NAZI concentration camp? For the privilege of living a little longer and eating a little more, you more than betray your People, your faith, your country and civilization. You actually help exterminate your own. And you brutalize your own helpless seniors, innocent children, and women while doing it.
Thomas Jefferson said the Liberty Tree needed to be watered with the blood of patriots every 20 years. Pass on that, even though the Bolsheviks push towards violence. We should fight only when there’s no other way to stay free of Human Secularist Totalitarianism or Islamist Totalitarianism. A “color” revolution is non-violent change of government which captures the culture as well.
America’s Exceptionalism celebrated on the 250th Anniversary of our Declaration of Independence comes from National experiences and the unique set of ideas guiding Americans throughout every test and trial. We need to restate the “self-evident”, sacred, and timeless truths of our American identity.
The Republican part of the bi-partisan housing bill passed (Senate: 85-5, House: 358-32) is typically Republican. Clueless. Short-sighted. Un-principled. Needless spending the Nation into bankruptcy. Un-Constitutional. Foolish beyond contempt. Enabling the Democrat road to Socialism.

America at 250 years experienced epochal transitions from a Frontier to Agricultural to Industrial to (first-iteration) Post-Industrial society, from colonies to nation-state to world power and empire to super-power to global uber-super-power, economic crises, wars, and its terrible civil war of national definition in the War Between the States. Concurrently, each century had a paramount issue of national definition.
The United States of America is 250 years old this year, because for the year before, the U.S. Army (The Continental Line) was in the field fighting for freedom. This Nation forged by war is remarkably un-militaristic. Yet, the free-thinking, independent, faithfully Christian, rowdy half the country is fiercely pro-military. Freedom-loving Americans expect the well-disciplined, tightly run Army to be the best in the world and stay in their lane. Fight wars and win.

After the 50th Wedding Anniversary celebrations for a Classmate and his wife in Florida, another Classmate and I went to church with them before we left for home. It was another Evangelical church on fire for the Lord Jesus Christ! So much so that they are planting another church about 15 minutes away. On their own. No help from any church hierarchy or authority.
