Democrisy! If it weren’t for double standards, they’d have no standards at all

Minnesota Lynx head Coach Cheryl Reeve sought to make a political statement during her teams home game against the Indiana Fever by wearing a t-shirt under her open jacket which proclaimed “Trans Kids Belong”. This was seen as a shot at Indiana’s wing guard Sophie Cunningham, who famously stated that males need to be kept out of women’s and girls’ locker rooms and off their sports teams.

Well, to the surprise of absolutely no one, Coach Reeve had a different attitude when it came to coaching.

WNBA coach who supports trans athletes hates that the “W” is hiring male head coaches: “We can’t let this happen”

Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve caused a stir when she wore a shirt that expressed support for transgender athletes during her team’s game against the Indiana Fever last Sunday.

The light blue shirt under her jacket, which was boldly printed with the words “Trans kids belong,” was in obvious opposition to Fever guard Sophie Cunningham’s controversial stand against biological males competing in women’s sports.

However, while pro-trans people lauded Reeve for backing inclusion, it was ironic that less than two weeks ago, she also protested against the WNBA hiring men as coaches and called out the lack of women’s head coaches in the premier women’s pro basketball league in the United States.

In an interview on “Good Game” with Sarah Spain, Reeve said we’re seeing history repeat itself because before Title IX was put in place, there were more women coaching in women’s college basketball than men. However, when that law was enacted in 1972, men instead began invading women’s college basketball because it started gaining prominence, getting more attention and money involved.

“We still don’t have more women coaching in college basketball than we do men,” Reeve said. “So that same thing, apply that same thing when two years ago we lost seven WNBA coaches. They got fired because all of a sudden, this money, the WNBA blew up, valuations of franchises. In comes the NBA folks again, who had cast us aside for many years. In they come again. Now they want their franchises back and all that. It’s more important again and then we have more men, we have NBA people.”

So, Miss Reeve supports reducing, if not excluding all men from coaching jobs in the WNBA, but is upset that Miss Cunningham doesn’t want men and boys taking playing positions in women’s and girls’ sports. There’s an obvious difference here: coaching is a mostly mental job, drawing on intelligence, instincts and experience, while the players are far more dependent upon their physical abilities. In the latter, physical biology matters, to a far greater extent than in the former, and the truth is stark and simple: males and females are different, in ways that make a difference in sports. We’ve seen that played out on the playing fields and arenas, where Will “Lia” Thomas, Braydon “Blair” Fleming, and Abraham “A B Hernandez” Delgado have taken dominant positions in their chosen sports after they declared themselves to be female. Most, if not all, WNBA teams practice against men, because they get much stronger competition from male players than second-string female players.

Surely the Fever or other teams could use Julie Tétart, a 6’3″ biological male averaging 21 points and 20 rebounds a game for a French league! That there are actual calls for it has brought the whole idea of ‘transgender women’ playing in the WNBA down to a reductio ad absurdum. That’s the problem for the left, because a policy or idea that can be reduced to the point of absurdity is inherently absurd.

We can, and I do, have sympathy for those people afflicted with a mental illness which tells them that they are actually a different sex from what biology has determined, but having sympathy does not mean that we should support their delusions, their mental illnesses. They fact that some people are deluded does not mean that we should lie about it to their faces, or to society in general.

There is some truth about Miss Reeve’s position: in the 15-team WNBA, eight head coaches are male and seven female. In a league in which a majority of the players are black, none of the female head coaches are black. But what stands out is that the male head coaches have NBA experience, experience in coaching professional basketball players, and that does count for a lot. Teams look for personnel who have been winners, who have experience with winning teams, and there are a lot more NBA people with that than female coaching prospects. But it’s also true that the WNBA is now thirty years old, and there are a lot of now former WNBA players with experience out there.

Why, it’s almost as though the teams were being non-discriminatory in their hiring practices.

Let’s tell the truth here: for our good friends on the left, they must accept the transgendered as being the sex they claim to be, or they will be somehow cooperating with the evil President Trump and Make America Great Again Republicans, and that they can never, ever do. To be acceptable to the hard left, every position which is in any way connected to sex must be the furthest left position possible, or they are simps for evil, reich-wing conservatives; that’s why you see otherwise leftist people like Martina Navratilova and J K Rowling, who don’t accept the cockamamie notion that people can just change their sex being derided as “TERFs,” trans exclusionary radical feminists.
