Am I the same person I was in decades past?
MY OTHER
My Other went before me
In years past, he held the hand
T’was he who set the path I tread
And made me who I am
Though long ago and far away,
Still he had control
Of how I live and whom I love
And, maybe, of my soul
He did not know the things I know
He was not always wise
He made poor choices….sometimes
Had friends I would despise
I often smile when I reflect
On all the seeds he’s sown
He cast off with a hopeful heart
To sail on seas unknown
Easy for me – to judge my Other
Who brought me to this day
I live results of bets he placed
Before Chance called the play
That young man is no longer here
Don’t look for him today
Still I wonder if he saw me now…
What would my Other say?
