In Our Own Image | Romans 1:21

Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. (Romans 1:21 NLT)

When Jesus Feels Distant-Do THIS (WNS-52)

Jesus lives—The Tomb is empty.
Death is defeated—The Grave is opened.
God is in control—His Word is accurate.
The Devil’s power is destroyed—God won.
Historic Faith can say Christ Lives—but Saving Faith always says Christ Lives in me!

SAVING FAITH SAYS CHRIST LIVES IN ME

Have you cried out “God be merciful to me” through Christ and confessed that you have broken God’s Law and are “the sinner” that Jesus died and rose to save?

If not, you can this morning; Jesus is alive and with His arms open wide to you!

Today, we celebrate Christ’s Resurrection. But what does Christ’s rising from the dead imply to us who are saved and know Him personally? It means that Christ is now free to be everywhere all the time. Jesus could only be in one place at a time during His earthly ministry.

Open with me to the Garden Tomb on Resurrection morning in John 20:11-16.

Many of us are so often like Mary this morning, heading to the Tomb on Resurrection Sunday.
All the memories of Him flooded her mind. Jesus had loved her, forgiven her, and made her so many promises. But now Jesus seemed so far away that all those things seemed distant to Mary.

WHEN JESUS SEEMS DISTANT—FIND THE RISEN ONE

Mary needed to see Jesus. That is why she was last at the Cross and first at the Tomb. Mary needed Him and was now the first to see the Risen Christ. Only He could strengthen her faith and comfort her heart, which He did.

Clinging to God When Life Makes No Sense (OTI 35 Habakkuk)

CLINGING TO GOD
WHEN LIFE MAKES NO SENSE
HABAKKUK. C. 625 B.C.

God watches us tonight as we live in a nation suffering very much the same disease that ancient Israel suffered. It’s a collective societal amnesia about our spiritual heritage.

In ancient Israel it had to do with closing the Temple down, hiding the Law of God, and neglecting His worship. In America, it’s found in the insidious concept we see all around us of reconstructing our history.

Chuck Colson in his thoughtful work of 1992 THE BODY points out Kevin Costner’s fanciful rewriting of the West in DANCES WITH THE WOLVES and again in ROBINHOOD: PRINCE OF THIEVES. Listen to Colson:

Deconstruction is a growing skepticism about objective truth. It is dismantling language, texts, and history … to the point that history is eroded; society has no tradition (and disintegrates)!

Now listen to the mighty prophet Habakkuk: In chapter one he says – God raises up Adversaries; in chapter 2 he says the righteous live by faith but the wicked have no hiding place; in chapter 3 he says, hope in God despite any hopeless situation. However, when a nation turns from its spiritual heritage, Judgment is Inevitable and Inescapable.
