“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times” when Charles Dickens wrote “A Tale of Two Cities.” So, it is today in America. How odd that people living in such different days can feel so much the same. That similarity suggests the tumult of our time will work out much like the past. The crises of our times will be resolved and lead to new, different controversies that “try men’s souls.” Indeed, perhaps in just a few years hence, we can celebrate the “winter of our discontent” transformed into glorious victory.
The bad news and the good news today for America is a tale of two countries.
Americans are divided into many like-minded camps and tribes of identity. Yet, there’s a broad cleavage of fundamental ideas which define competing visions for America and separate into sides both groups claiming to really represent the country.
The real division, not kidding, is the ideas of the American Revolution vs. the ideas of the French Revolution. Actually, it’s the latest manifestation of the cancer of Human Secularist Totalitarianism contending with the abiding ideas of the American Revolution.
Human Secularist Totalitarianism is too much of a mouthful. It’s the romantic, utopian ideas of the French Revolution updated and fitted to our time and place in America. It promises the same awful outcomes that follow every time it has been tried, however hopefully, to fix oppression, right wrongs, and uplift a changed humanity. It portends the same outcomes of terrible suffering, loss, and death that socialism, fascism, national socialism, and communism committed in crimes against humanity, nature, and God. Yet, half of America subscribes to it – even if they don’t know its proper name.
That’s the real bad news in the darkest days of this cold, Covid season of conflict.
Other facts, such as the “woke”, politically correct, Human Secular Totalitarians Commies, who call themselves “Democrats”, control the peaks of most of the seven institutions which define our culture and Nation are bad, but not insurmountable.
The institutional “mountains” of government, including the military, business, education, media, arts and entertainment are under Commie control. And, they’re contesting for the mountains of religion and family.
The Commies are supported by the uber super rich oligarchs of social media and mega-businesses. They are probably bought and paid for in unseen ways by more billions of Chinese, Russian, and Cartel money. They are dhimmis to Islam. They have the votes of the large underclass living on the government plantation and the proles obedient to identity politics. Yet, they’re still only half.
Never forget that a highly motivated one-third of the colonies defeated the greatest power in the world and an equal third of their neighbors to make us these United States of America.
The good news for the coming years of continual, worsening conflict is that we keepers of the Great Experiment – Democracy in America – are the believers of both the Great Commission and the Torah, and we’re more than a third. We’re half of America.
We’re the wage-earning people and small business owners who “do most of the living and dying in this community” as George Bailey said – and who fight and win the real, shooting wars.
Also, we have the wisdom of the ages, what’s right, and the truth on our side. From history to economics to human behavior and the games of nations to science and philosophy we have empirical, provable truth in our service.
We’re the huge middle between the rich elite and stupid poor that works hard and won’t surrender. We aren’t defined by race or any of wrongs the Commies’ imagine. We love America. “America” is still an ascending idea. We believe in change as good Conservatives by shoving what is best about the past into the future and adapting the new to established, good norms.
Even if we sweep the elections in 2022 and 2024, there’s much to be done to take the high ground of the institutional mountains or replace them on new hills with better vistas. There’s work for every American citizen, because, eventually as in all wars, this Great U.S. Culture war will brook no neutrals.

I totally concur with your assessment and it dovetails nicely with mass Formation Psychosis: thirds / halves… it’s always been this way, it’ll probably will always be this way.
