As children we knew our father meant business when he turned the television on at 5 p.m.  That was the time for local news.  If we had anything to say, we went to our rooms.  Nobody

Interrupted the news.  Then at six, the all -important national news came on and was never missed at our house. 

     I cannot imagine what he’d say if he knew the channel hopping I go through just to make a half guess about what’s happening locally, nationally or world wide.  Grave tumbling with a lot of disbelief is probably accompanied by pure horror by news hounds who’ve left for their rewards. 

Perhaps their only reward will be good riddance to network news

     My search for truth is futile on most days as I try to decipher what the mealy-mouthed “news”

Network people are trying to pull over as events of the day.  I now narrow my search to two types, watch some of both and then wrestle within my mind to sort out any elements worth keeping. 

     The vast majority of news networks visible on cheap tv are “liberal”, joyously  pushing wherever the administration leads their lazy minds.  The only searching may have been some minor underling trying to find anything resembling a “source” for obviously made-up garbage.

Even that minimal effort has become such an effort, it’s mostly just a  “take the release and run with it” program.

     And, for my other side the lies don’t stand out nearly as brashly.  But, the anger verbalized

and demonstrated can make me wonder if there’s any fairness in news.  This side of the news is even a bit more political .  No real news, just polls and politics.

      We can listen, do a little wishful thinking, get scared to death it’s really that bad or that good on either side.  Probably the third choice—keeping our heads in the sand is the better one.

     World news is mostly a thing of the past.  We might get a smattering if it can be related to the US in some way.  Our government’s pouring borrowed dollars on it or getting ready to send troops.  But, we’re sadly short on munitions.  The IRS, Afghanistan or maybe it was Ukraine ‘

who took the last of them.  At any rate, I’m keeping my BB’s ready and digging up the backyard…For a storm shelter.
