Some mornings in Tupelo Brake, I sit at this computer, reading the news and opinions of people who still struggle to tell us all just what is going on in the political world, and I feel tears sliding down my face. They are unbidden and often a surprise, but they are true tears for America and for our people, nevertheless.
I know that I am just one person, sitting here in the back of beyond as far as society is concerned, and there is little that I can do to bring about any change in the rapid downfall of our beloved country. But it hurts me to see what is happening to us, and I have been trying to warn people ever since the election of the communist plant, barack obama, to wake up and realize that our freedoms are being destroyed, bit by bit. Or at least it was bit by bit when the noxious obama came along; now our rights are being washed away in a major flood by a cabal of communists who control the White House, the Congress and a major amount of the courts.
There are good, patriotic men and women in Congress and in some states, who fight for us and America every day, but they are at present the minority in leadership positions. I can only pray, along with all concerned citizens, that November elections will be more honest and people who are not puppets of the masters will be elected. Many thousands of regular people are stepping up in their local cities and states, to do what they can to insure that the elections show the true vote and not some vote based on midnight shenaningans, as happened in 2020. We must do our part, too, and support those who love this country.
One of the hardest things that we all face is having to watch the downfall of formerly vibrant, beautiful American cities and it is absolutely gut wrenching to people who believe in law and order. Once proud cities are now becoming like third world countries with runaway crime, homeless people that they live in filth and squalor, and flagrantly corrupt politicians in control.
And, we are suffering under the highest inflation in forty years, the result of reckless spending policies coming from the vacuous supposed leadership in Washington, D.C. While inflation is just numbers to them, for us it is a crushing reality.
With all the glum news every day, it’s sometimes hard to find something to be cheerful about, something to look forward to, something to makes us think that the future is not all bleak.
I have usually found peace in working outside with flowers and trees and mowing the world around me. The intense heat of this summer stole some of that pleasure, for I hated to go outside and battle the humidity and the heat that was just unrelenting. Not being a part of the working world anymore allowed me to stay in more than I would have done years ago, but staying in the house too much is depressing.
Now that the weather is bearable, I can resume more outside activity and participate in those activities that I have always enjoyed. And this year, there is a bonus to look forward to. Grandson Woodrow Wade is playing basketball with the Monterey Jr. Varsity team, and am I ever enjoying going to his games. Even though this is his first year to play organized basketball, he is coming along nicely. He sets a mean pick, can shoot well, and is a dandy rebounder.
The young team that he plays with are all hardworking boys, and I expect them to be a force to be reckoned with when they are juniors and seniors in high school.
Focusing on our everyday lives is one way to handle the crush of disappointment over the direction that our country is taking. I am thankful for the work that I have, for my family and friends. I truly believe that we are being tested, and our faith in God and His plan for us gives up a hope that no politician can destroy.
We must stay strong in our faith and in our commitment to what is right and good, and we must prepare as best we can for what further angst is coming
