What does it mean when “Don’t Try That in a Small Town” goes viral and a few weeks later, “Rich Men North of Richmond” does the same? It’s what Robert Burns meant when he said Scotland will become free when the washerwomen sing his songs. We, The People, find our voice in these songs. We, The People, know America is heading to Hell fast. We want to fix what’s wrong.
Oliver Anthony (his stage name) of Farmville, Virginia, captures much of what’s wrong with his chorus:
Livin’ in the new world With an old soul These rich men north of Richmond Lord knows they all just wanna have total control Wanna know what you think, wanna know what you do And they don’t think you know, but I know what you do ‘Cause your dollar ain’t shit and it’s taxed to no end
Everyone who lives paycheck to paycheck gets it. If you live one paycheck away from not making your mortgage or your rent, you feel it. If your place of work could close without warning, ship your job overseas, or just let you go when money is tight, you know you’re not in control.
Wage slavery isn’t chattel slavery, but it’s a demeaning, de-humanizing condition if you have no alternatives where you live. Yes, you can move in America. To where? To do what?
Wanna change things? How? Government isn’t the answer. The uniparty of the Communist Democrats and the Establishment Republicans serve the elites in America. They serve the people who donate the big money to keep them in office. They don’t stay in power based on the contributions of folks one paycheck away from disaster.
Unfortunately, Government is the problem. Every bad thing in our economy since January 2021 is caused by government. Above all, the Federal Government robs hard-working people with inflation. The average family is paying over $700 more a month for food because of Biden and the Democrats. That crippling increase destroys savings and keeps people trapped.
Trapped people, like trapped animals, can become dangerous.
The built up frustration found some release in 2009 with the Tea Party. The Tea Party got co-opted by the career Republican politicians. In 2016 Trump promised to drain the swamp north of Richmond. He became the champion of movement not of his creation.
The Establishment Republicans betrayed all Conservatives when the Rs were in the majority. Trump didn’t know what to do.
In 2020, Trump failed to see the cheat coming and stop it in 5 metropolitan areas in 5 swing states. He lost the election.
The Biden administration surrendered in Afghanistan, opened the borders to over 6 million illegal aliens, pushed Covid diktats, funneled mega-billions to corrupt Ukraine, spread the Woke cancer, and caused every penny of inflation.
As 2024 approaches, Trump is under lawfare attack intended to make him the Republican revenge candidate for President and insure his defeat with the swing voters in the swing states.
Politics is but one battleground for America. Yet, it is absolutely vital. The Commies destroy. Establishment Republicans dither. Conservatives will use political power to restore the economy.
Until the States or Congress limit the Federal Government to its Constitutional powers, GOTUS is the center of gravity for political power. All three branches.
The Human Secular Totalitarians – Commie Democrats – are winning the Culture War across 5 of 7 institutions. But, their alliance of elites, Northeastern and Coastal Puritan Liberals, and sheep on the government plantation are not a majority of Americans. True, they garner half the votes in a national election. But, they are only a few more demonstrations of insanity from pushing the swing votes away from the Democrats.
It’s up to the Conservatives to restore the good that makes America great. It’s up to the Conservatives to intimidate the Establishment Republicans into action.
Americans who hear Anthony Oliver’s song in their heart have one hope in the near term. They need a new champion, because Trump won’t be able to do it, even if he knew all that needs to be done. Trump can’t get elected past the upcoming cheat in swing states in 2024. A new champion can when the swing voters vote for sanity and practical bread and butter issues.
Governor Ron DeSantis can be that champion. He’s earned his way in the world. If he can communicate and connect that aspect of his humanity, he can win the nomination. I hope he grabs voters in the gut – soon.
