Carville Urges Harris to Debate Trump on Fox News Amid Sentencing Day Drama

Harris knows she is toast up against Trump in any debate. She will cower in fear of any such debate. Such a debate will almost definitely be the most watched political debate for the presidency in all history.

In a surprise move, prominent Democratic strategist James Carville has publicly encouraged Vice President Kamala Harris to accept a debate invitation from Fox News, which would pit her against former President Donald Trump on September 18. The timing is notable, as it coincides with the day Trump is set to be sentenced in the Manhattan hush money case.

Carville made his comments during Saturday’s episode of “Politicon,” suggesting that Trump might be reluctant to debate Harris. He remarked, “I hope somebody in the vice president campaign is listening. I think we should accept the Fox debate, and I think the debate should take place on the night of Sept. 18th in New York City, and I think we should be gracious to former President Trump.”

Carville continued, “So, tell Fox you’ll be glad. You’ll show up in Manhattan. They got a studio there. I’ve been in it before, and we’ll have the debate on Fox on the night of Sept. 18th. That’s what we should do.” Carville’s remarks, initially reported by Mediaite, indicate a deliberate tactical effort to position Vice President Harris for a head-to-head showdown with former President Trump on a highly consequential day.

Trump, for his part, announced on Truth Social that he has agreed to a Fox News debate with Harris on September 4. He stated, “I have agreed with Fox News to debate Kamala Harris on Wednesday, September 4th. The Debate was previously scheduled against Sleepy Joe Biden on ABC, but has been terminated in that Biden will no longer be a participant, and I am in litigation against ABC Network and George Slopadopoulos, thereby creating a conflict of interest.”

Harris’s campaign communications director, Michael Tyler, responded by accusing Trump of seeking Fox News to “bail him out” and called on him to honor the September 10 debate. Tyler asserted, “He needs to stop playing games and show up to the debate he already committed to on Sept. 10. The Vice President will be there one way or the other to take the opportunity to speak to a prime-time national audience.”

Tyler added, “We’re happy to discuss further debates after the one both campaigns have already agreed to. Mr. Anytime, anywhere, anyplace should have no problem with that unless he’s too scared to show up on the 10th.”

Major Points

  • Debate Challenge: Trump labeled as “scared to debate a girl” by Carville.
  • Trump’s New Plan: Trump agrees to a Fox News debate on September 4, skipping ABC’s September 10 debate.
  • Campaign Clash: Harris’s team accuses Trump of evading commitments, insists on the September 10 debate.
  • High Stakes: September debates set to be pivotal for both Trump and Harris campaigns.
