How the Republicans Lose the 2026 Midterms

President Trump’s Republican Administration and Republicans in both Houses of Congress can work together to lose their majority.  All they have to do is keep doing and not doing what they are now.  Not that they haven’t done some things well.  But, they’re failing to do reach for the low-hanging political fruit.  They’re back-tracking on campaign promises.  They’re bleeding out the votes which gave them the power they fail to use decisively.

Virginia’s Republicans lost their majority twice in the General Assembly by “bleeding their base” with tax increases and a feckless, visionless lack of vision and purpose.  When it happens on the Federal level, those Establishment Republicans deserve to lose.

Unfortunately, all Americans will pay the price when Republicans lose power to the Bolsheviks.

At some point, the corruption of elections may push national redemption beyond the reach of voting alone.  Hopefully, that won’t happen before a long Revolutionary Season can elect a governing consensus sharing the traditional worldview of the American Revolution.

Meanwhile, here’s how votes bleed out in 2026.

Republicans keep voting for bloated Biden budgets.

They didn’t make all the DOGE cuts.

They restored billions for refugee resettlement.  They didn’t completely defund every penny going to illegal aliens.

They took a year to release the Epstein files and their full disclosure still isn’t certain.

The Senate slow-rolled appointments.  Still haven’t confirmed Federal District attorneys.

They funded the National Endowment for Democracy to work against Conservatives.

They approved the “kill switch” for all automobiles built after 2026.

The tariff circus hasn’t increased U.S. industrial jobs.  Has increased inflation.

They haven’t repealed Obamacare.  They fund Obamacare subsidies.

They haven’t restricted judicial review.  They haven’t impeached rogue judges.  They haven’t cut funding or re-organized courts to gut Leftist activist judges.

They didn’t rollback taxes for all Seniors on Social Security.

They haven’t ended the Department of Education.

The Border Wall hasn’t progressed enough over a year.

They are stepping back from deporting ALL illegal aliens – as policy.

They haven’t turned good Presidential Executive Orders into legislation.

If they don’t make many, many arrests for the billions in government fraud identified in Minnesota by October 2026, they lose confidence.

If they don’t find and make public the fraud in Government programs across the Nation – especially in California – they lose credibility.

600,000 Chinese students are admitted.  The correct number is however many can be carefully monitored with existing resources.  60? 600? 6000?  That could be fixed in a heartbeat.

All the H1B visas could be stopped.  They aren’t.

Make a list of Presidential, Senate, and Congressional campaign promises.  How many can be checked off after one year?  How many are actually being backtracked and dumped?

The Administration and Congress work hand-in-glove to lose in November 2026.  All should keep their promises to Americans.

  1. All so true. Perhaps an underlying theme here – a glaring lack of accountability for those who have stolen, cheated, bribed, acted beyond the scope of their office, put American citizens interest second (or third) to their own and/or the interests of illegals…. you get the picture….

I wake up each morning and by my second cup of coffee, I still can’t face the day (hat tip to Mr. Lightfoot) – I wait each day to read about something other than ongoing congressional investigations that have no end, hopefully to read about indictments that result in actual court trials and decisions on guilt / innocence, to read stories of elected leaders who start putting their constituents ahead of their own interests, to read stories about sanity and common sense becoming evident in governmental agencies at all levels (city / county / state / federal). I guess I’ll just have to live with disappointment.

To your point, Mr. Bowden, perhaps the GOP infrastructure could produce and follow a plan (with evidence of results) to give those of us in flyover country some confidence that we are electing Americans who care about their fellow citizens and are actively taking steps to govern with a dollop of sanity. Conservatives may not vote (midterm or otherwise) if they think their vote will only result in electing say anything / do nothing government leaders – and therein lays the pathway to defeat.
