I wonder if Graham Platner (DSA-Maine) is a Madonna fan. I only ask because he seems like a real material boy; someone with a lust for life’s finer things – especially those that belong to other people. Just wait till you hear what he said at a June 22 press availability. He’d be a perfect match for a deep thinker like the original Material Girl.
Since the press conference, pundits have been all over Planned Parenthood’s endorsement of the oyster-man, and his admission that he’s a member of their STD testing customer loyalty program. I wonder if they use punch cards like my local coffee shop?
But something Platner said to the press deserves more attention than his boast that he’s a chlamydia super-spreader – allegedly. The guy who wants to be the next Senator from Maine has some very unusual ideas about freedom. He said:
We need to build new rights, new definitions of freedom, definitions that include material definitions of freedom.
Huh? Material definition of freedom? Is that some Kamala-esc bowl of word salad with a heaping helping of oil and vinegar, or is Maine’s holocaust fanboy actually saying something we should pay attention to?
As we know from Graham’s Kik feed, the man isn’t particularly shy, and he didn’t hold back at his press conference either. Thankfully he restrained his expression to speech rather than exhibitionism. He elaborated on exactly what he meant by “material freedom.”
The idea that you don’t actually have the right to something if you can never, ever afford it or reach it…people deserve material access.
When he’s talking about affordability, he’s talking about actual material – i.e. stuff. And that little word “deserve” demands some attention too. He’s saying that even if you can’t afford something, you still have a right to have it.
Contrary to what the Dems would admit, America has always been the most materially free country in the world. There is virtually nothing one can’t have, if one is willing to work for it.
You want a Farrari? It’s actually pretty simple to get one in America. Just get good enough grades in school to become a doctor, lawyer, or entrepreneur, and then work hard. After enough 70-hour workweeks, you too can be driving an Italian “middle-finger” to all the incels that spent their youth smoking weed and binging on Call of Duty. It’s not easy, but it is straightforward.
The problem is that the stuff Platner is promising everyone, doesn’t occur spontaneously in nature. Someone has to invest in materials, and then add copious amounts of labor to create it. That’s how wealth is created, and wealth creation is kind of important. Without it, America would look like Cuba without the good weather in a couple of decades.
But I’m pretty sure “wealth creation” is not Graham Platner’s strategy for “material access.” When he says “material freedom,” he means “free material” – you know, free stuff.
When Platner and his pals say they deserve stuff that they didn’t earn, you can use the process of elimination to figure out how they plan to get it – by taking it. Platner is promising the masses the stuff they “deserve” by doing the commie cha-cha (or is it the macarena, I forget). They’re going to take what someone labored to create, give it to someone who didn’t, and then dance on the ashes left behind. He’s talking about redistribution – the preferred method of Democrat party vote buying.
The problem is there is a huge downside to Platner’s whole “deserve stuff without working for it” concept of freedom. Redistribution always takes from those who work, and gives to those who don’t. It places the labor of one citizen in service to another, without commensurate compensation.
We have a word for the practice of forcing one to involuntarily work for another – slavery. I believe we still consider that a bad thing — don’t we? Well, Platner’s notion of “material freedom” converts a free society into something decidedly less free.
None of that should surprise anyone paying attention. In 2021, Graham Platner posted on Reddit that he was a communist – though in a rare display of discretion, those posts have mysteriously disappeared. I wonder if the election has something to do with that?
So, pay close attention people of Maine. Not all slavers are communists, but all communists are slavers. Don’t be distracted by Platner’s Nazi tattoo or his creepy sexual predilections. The man has brazenly promised to take your freedom if you elect him. That should scare the bejeebers out of you more than shirtless pictures of the man trolling for juveniles – allegedly.
