I try to write at least 2 articles a week, but occasionally – like this week – I run into a wall. It’s not that it’s been a particularly slow news week. It’s just that I don’t have much to contribute to the current online debates.
I could write about the absurdity of men pummeling women in female sports – as the gals pretend it’s okay. But there are enough pieces about attempted manslaughter on WNBA courts. Besides, medical science hasn’t caught up with the social debate yet.
Medical science? Maybe I could write about the incredible damage small doctors with huge egos are capable of inflicting. Unfortunately, the Fauci diaries have made that point better than I ever could. Besides, I’d like to retain eligibility for possible future jury selection. I think I’ll keep my opinions on Dr. “I Am the Science” Fauci to myself a bit longer.
When I find myself with a need to write, but no idea what to write about, I go for the low-hanging mockable fruit. I check to see if either Paul Krugman or Robert Reich have written anything recently. Anything by either guy, is always an attempt to substitute rage for logic – which demands ridicule.
So today I popped over to Real Clear Politics to check on it’s list of suggested articles, and there it was: The Moronic Bullshit of the “Third Way” – There’s no “middle” between neofascist corporatism and democracy, by Robert Reich. The condescension. The profanity. I knew this was going to be a rage fest worthy of a BLM “mostly peaceful” burning. I decided to write my piece about his piece, before I even bothered to read it.
And what does “no middle between neofascist corporatism and democracy” even mean? Did he get that from Kamala Harris or Hasan Piker?
It turns out that Reich has a beef with Third Way – which the New York Times calls a centrist Democrat group, as if there are still centrists in the donkey party.
Now, before I get into Robert’s article, I should mention that he used to be “Slick Willie’s” Secretary of Labor. Hence, he should be in favor of … you know … labor – which we non-Ivy League rubes call jobs. But apparently, Secretary Reich has had a commie epiphany since his boss was doing “a little bit of Monica” in the West Wing.
Robert is big mad that Third Way is suggesting that electing commies to office may not provide the prosperity which communism always guarantees. He’s convinced that the organization’s motives are evil, because it accepts donations from … gasp … the people who have money. He’s flummoxed that Third Way doesn’t know that the only legitimate donations come from Antifa transexuals who misspell names on coffee cups for a living – when they’re not trying to murder ICE agents.
Seemingly to make his point, Robert provided a long list of corporate leaders represented on Third Way’s board of directors – because if you’re in the business of creating wealth and providing jobs, your motives are obviously evil.
Reich then gave us a little glimpse of his TDS insanity with this howler:
Third Way donors have also given money to the Republican Attorneys General Association, which helps elect Republicans who fight federal environmental and other regulations. Among them, Entergy, Facebook, Google, and Reynolds American.
Did you get that? Third Way is guilty of joining the Rush Limbaugh wing of the Republican party because it accepts money from such conservative stalwarts as Google and Facebook (snark intended)! The man is delusional, and apparently proud of it.
Just to put a cherry on top, Reich tossed in that Third Way has even given Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema honorary positions. I gather that’s an afront to decency because the two stopped the Democrats from turning America into a one-party country to save democracy.
Eventually Rob gets to his punchline. Referring to a memo Third Way distributed, he wrote:
The memo also included calls to curb “far-left influence,” adopt a “pro-capitalist” stance, and stop “demonizing wealth and corporations.”
The Horror! Let me summarize:
- Curbing far-left influence – bad.
- Promoting capitalism – bad.
- Stopping demonization of wealth – bad.
So, Robert is an admitted extremist, who wants to take over the means of production, while seizing the wealth of the accomplished – and he thinks that’s axiomatic. Shouldn’t he have quoted Karl Marx somewhere in the article, just for good form?
Reich’s entire piece is an endorsement of the David Hogg school of big tent politics – that the tent isn’t for debating. It’s only big enough for those who want to replace the freedom of individualism with the slavery of collectivism.
But Reich’s rage didn’t stop with Third Way. Rage doesn’t switch off that easily and he was on a roll. He’s also peeved with the nation’s leading conservative propaganda rag, The New York Times (snark obviously intended). He wrote:
I find it deeply troubling that faux centrist groups (Third Way) are declaring war on progressives in the pages of The New York Times, without the Times revealing who they really are.
Who they are? Is he upset the Times didn’t clarify that business leaders are advocating with Third Way for a more prosperous America? I don’t think so. Is he upset that capitalists are advocating with Third Way for a freer America? I don’t think he was making that point either. The article left me with the impression that former Secretary of Labor Reich might be moonlighting as an economic advisor to Mayor Zohan Mamdani.
Reich concluded his article with the one sentence which rings true.
Washington has been taken over by legalized bribery and corruption, and there’s no “center” between democracy and neofascism.
Ironically, Reich used his article to gripe about fascism, while arguing for fascism, while seeming to think his logic is sound. That is the product when rage puts pen to paper. I hope the man doesn’t get behind the wheel of a car until his rage passes – a decade or so after The Donald leaves office.
