When President Reagan was negotiating the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty with the Soviet Union, he repeatedly said his rule was “Trust but verify.” Those simple three words summarize a truism about human nature. Trust is only possible in an environment of transparency and accountability. It cannot exist when the party demanding trust, is also hiding the truth.
The Gipper’s words – “Trust but verify” – kept playing in my head, as I read the accounts of Dr. Anthony Fauci “pleading the 5th” 111 times during his congressional testimony. Throughout the pandemic, Fauci insisted that we trust him – that he was the “the science.” Now he refuses to have his trustworthiness verified. What gives? Have the laws of science changed since Biden left office, or does the good doctor have something to hide? I’m going with the inverse of “trust but verify” – suspicion because of obfuscation.
Fauci’s refusal to talk may have halted his voluntary disclosure, but it only heightened our interest in what he might be hiding. His refusal to testify, has only intensified scrutiny of his pandemic behavior, and that of the people who followed his guidance. His personal diaries and cell phone data have been recovered, and are verifying that “Mr. Science” has much to hide from self-incrimination.
Five states (Florida, Louisianna, Oklahoma, Alabama, and West Virginia) have opened investigations into Anthony Fauci and his cohorts. They want to know if he’s broken any state laws, for which he can be prosecuted in their jurisdictions – taking the matter out of the hands of a Washington DC jury.
Congressional investigators are digging through government records, to see how far the COVID deceptions went. They want to know who was involved – especially those that don’t have a President Autopen “get out of jail free card.”
Federal indictments for Fauci coconspirators are starting to drop. One of Fauci’s assistants, Dr. David Morens, has plead guilty to conspiracy to defraud the United States, for his part in the COVID coverup. That little word “conspiracy” means he wasn’t alone and we haven’t seen the last of the Fauci allies who’ll be fitted for orange jumpsuits.
Since Democrat party apparatchik Merrick Garland left the Justice Department, the truth has begun trickling out, and we’ve learned quite a lot.
We now know that Anthony Fauci deceptively – and possibly illegally – funded gain of function research which may have created the COVID virus. He also lied about his research, and the origin of the virus – even taking steps to discredit others attempting to come forward.
We now know that Anthony Fauci insisted that we take a vaccine which he knew was both ineffective and even dangerous to certain people (i.e. pregnant women). He even hid information about adverse effects, so as not to undermine confidence in the vaccine. We may never know the full scope of the human damage done.
We now know that those entrusted with ensuring the health and welfare of all Americans (employees of NIH, CDC, and etc.), instead destroyed records, and used backchannel communications to keep the truth from us.
We now know that the pharmaceutical industry saw COVID as a massive financial windfall – a crisis not to be wasted, so to speak. They made billions of dollars, while hiding that insufficient testing had been done to ensure that the treatments were safe and effective.
We now know that doctors and nurses “went along to get along.” Rather than be attacked by the medical experts, they parroted whatever Dr. Fauci said. Their compliance prevented the use of safe and effective treatments like Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine. Doctors stopped being patient advocates, and became Fauci enforcers – placing conformity over their Hippocratic Oath.
We now know that our own President, casually removed accountability from the system, when he issued a blanket preemptive pardon to Anthony Fauci, for any federal crimes committed since 2014!
The people we depended on in an emergency – doctors, nurses, administrators, medical suppliers, researchers, and even a Chief Executive – all violated our trust.
We won’t soon forget that as millions died
- Fauci wrote thousands of adoring pages, to himself;
- Big Pharma made billions off the misery of others;
- Dictator wannabes shuttered businesses, schools, and churches;
- Doctors and nurses basked in the hero spotlight, while making flippant COVID dance videos; and
- Joe Biden mandated that we inject ourselves with a vaccine his advisors knew was neither safe nor effective.
Most importantly, we now know the system of standards and ethics, which was intended to prevent all of that … didn’t.
Broken trust has fundamentally changed the doctor/patient relationship.
I go in for a medical checkup every fall. Prior to the pandemic, my doctor would always make a strong recommendation to get a flu shot. He’d explain that the shots were safe, and that my comorbidities made influenza an especially significant risk for myself. I generally relented, and took the shot, because I trusted him.
When I went in last October, he merely asked if I wanted a flu shot. When I declined, he didn’t even attempt his annual sales pitch. He simply looked down at his shoes and mumbled, “I understand.”
What he clearly understood, was that the entire medical industry sacrificed its integrity for the COVID hustlers, and his professional opinion isn’t worth much anymore.
My doctor, like countless others, never made a dancing COVID video, nor has he “taken the 5th” to avoid self-incrimination. He was just a guy trying to do right for his patients, while working within the system as it is. But it is a system in which the checks, balances, and ethical standards, failed to assure ethical behavior. When a system is broken, it makes everyone in the system suspect. They can’t be trusted, because their behavior can’t be verified. They fail the “trust but verify” test, regardless of what their personal integrity is. That’s the burden which every healthcare professional in the country will bear for years to come.
As the medical industry is learning, the COVID party is over and the hangover has begun. Since we no longer trust the advice of our advisors
- Vaccine resistance is up,
- Patients are skeptical of medical advice, and
- Nobody believes the bureaucrats are concerned about our welfare.
The industry which functions best in an environment of trust, has lost ours.
Trust but verify. It’s a simple concept, which tells our “experts” how they can regain our trust. Trust will return when verification proves that it’s warranted. It’s a long road, which Anthony Fauci just made even longer, with his 111 refusals of verification. The next time my doctor looks at his shoes, I hope he skips the “I understand,” and instead curses the COVID hustlers for putting him in that position.
