Israel preparing to forcibly displace Palestinians to south

The Israeli military says it’s preparing to forcibly evacuate Palestinians in Gaza City further south, as part of its wider plan to take control of the enclave. The move comes just over a week after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu approved the strategy. At least 20 Palestinians were killed on Sunday in strikes on hospitals and neighbourhoods near Gaza City. Kristina Simich reports.

Russia masses troops for major Pokrovsk offensive in Ukraine

 

Russia has massed more than 100,000 troops to take the eastern Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk and cut a major supply route. A successful offensive would likely strengthen Russia’s hand at the negotiating table. And Ukrainian officials say despite his proposal for a halt to the fighting, Vladimir Putin has no intention of achieving peace. Randolph Nogel reports.
