Eric Adams Didn’t Fool Me

Last November New Yorkers were fooled into believing they were electing a tough on crime Democrat politician. They were willing to believe anything he said. They were desperate and they still are. His opponent, Curtis Sliwa, founder of the Guardian Angels who has been fighting crime his entire adult life, should have been elected instead. Eric Adams is now showing his true colors. He’s no Rudy Giuliani. They elected the wrong man.

Adams went on a racist rant the other day at a press conference. He blamed the skin color (white, of course) of reporters and their editorial boards for daring to critique him. This, after only about 58 days in office. If you can’t stand the heat…? In essence, he said all white reporters are racists and only black reporters or reporters of color (colored reporters?) can be objective in their coverage of him. Reporters have to “look like him” in order to be taken seriously. Like a big baby, he even threatened to limit the topics of future press conferences. The beatings will continue until morale improves. This sentiment reveals a blatant, not hidden, racism. Imagine Mayor Rudy Giuliani saying that only white reporters are capable of covering him fairly and threatening to limit topics of future press conferences because of it? How long do you imagine he would have lasted in office? This racist idea is the same one that permeates the argument that blacks can’t be racist because they don’t have power. Yet, Adams is in the most powerful political position in NYC, the largest city in the country.

What does race have to do with him being able to do his job? He is not NYC’s first black mayor. He doesn’t have that pressure or spotlight on him. He can’t possibly be worse than David Dinkins, can he? Let’s hope not. Supposedly, Mayor Super Cop was in a bad mood that day over the coverage of his failed trip to Albany to get help from the state legislature on the city’s crime problems. The Albany Assembly Speaker and Senate Majority Leader happen to be black. Oops, can’t blame them for racism against him. Either they haven’t fallen for his schtick, or he didn’t really try very hard. Or, perhaps they don’t really care about the ongoing crimewave in New York? Crime is for the little people to worry about. They must have more important things to attend to, like figuring out how to stay in power.

While they’re doing that, they may want to pay some attention to a recent memo from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC, not to be confused with CCP) directed at Democrat Congressional candidates. But the memo is only directed at those candidates who actually may want a chance at winning come November. The memo recommends these Democrats use a “new” strategy. It recommends they lie to their constituents about their stances on crime, immigration, open border (no, not the Ukraine one, our southern one) and defunding the police. For some odd reason, the DCCC fails to mention that candidate Joe Brandon campaigned on defunding the police (who he called the “enemy”), bragged about ending “stop and frisk” in Camden, NJ and NYC and making prison into rehab not punishment. All this while his wingwoman was bailing out violent rioters. So, actually, it’s not a new strategy at all. It’s the same old strategy Democrats use every election cycle – lie and pretend to be moderate or even conservative at election time, whatever it takes to win, that’s the real goal. So much for the “new” strategy.

What the DCCC is really saying is “Hey dummies, forget AOC and The Squad, it’s an election year. Wise up and imitate Eric Adams and all will be well.” The DCCC is suggesting AOC’s belief that the crimewave of recent baby formula thievery (wrong crimewave, AOC) has spiked because the child tax credit ran out in December (actually, it didn’t – but that’s neither here nor there), is not the way to go this election cycle. Also, the baby formula black market is huge in NY and is nothing new, but let’s not get all confused with facts and stuff and lose sight of the real goal. Facts and politics don’t mix well in Democrat circles, especially the fact that Dems are about to have their rear ends handed to them in the mid-terms.

Adams claimed during his mayoral campaign to be tough on crime. His record as a NYPD cop for 22 years and his years in the state legislature as well as Brooklyn Burrough President belie that claim, however. Adams’ real fascination has been a fixation on race. He founded the group 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement Who Care in 1993. He’s been a racial agitator, not a crime fighter. He even campaigned with Al Sharpton and the now much criticized Alvin Bragg. No one in their right mind can argue that Sharpton and Bragg are on the side of law enforcement. Which side is Adams on?

What’s a Giuliani wannabe to do when things aren’t turning out the way you hoped? Well, cry race, of course. Crying race is his old, reliable standby. His tough on crime stance didn’t last long. After inviting President Brandon to mumble alongside him through a recent press conference on crime, all Adams could muster was a sheer determination to personally hunt down every single one of those out of control, violent……guns running around shooting people in the streets willy nilly. Nothing about the criminals. Nary a mention of DA Alvin Bragg releasing the very criminals who fired those guns. What’s next, confiscate violent “assault rifles and Freedom Convoy donators”?

The few pages of what’s left of the Democrat playbook are dog-eared and threadbare. Pretend to be something you’re not during election year, even if everything in your past cries “liar”. When you’re elected, govern like a Mao cultist. If they call you on that, cry everything you can think of, racism, sexism, misogyny, homophobia, et al. The more, the merrier. Something will stick.

Everyone seems afraid to say it, but Adams is looking more and more like a bait and switch artist. He’s cut from the same old liberal cloth. Don’t believe a tiger can change his stripes and don’t believe a Democrat can change his liberal bent. Watch what they do, not what they say. Don’t be fooled. I wasn’t.
