The US military is monitoring reports of a missile attack near the Washington consulate in the northern Iraqi city of Erbil, just days after two Iranian colonels were reportedly killed in an airstrike in Syria blamed on the Israeli consulate. The rocket attack came three days after two members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps were reportedly killed in Israeli airstrikes in Syria, and several OSINT reports also claimed that the attack on Erbil was carried out by Iran in retaliation for the deaths of two soldiers. According to Iranian state media, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for the rocket attacks on the northern capital of the Kurdish region, Erbil.
With global tensions high, many are wondering if the strike was motivated by the US involvement in the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
At this point, it does not appear that the conflict in eastern Europe was a contributing factor.
Rather, the attack in Erbil is reportedly related to the killing of two Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) leaders in an Israeli air attack that took place in Syria earlier this week.

Iranian Revolutionary Guards claim rocket attacks, claiming they target Israel’s strategic center in Iraq. His Revolutionary Guards said on their website that they attacked what it called an Israeli spy center in the city of Erbil. Iranian Revolutionary Guards said in a statement on Sunday that the missiles had targeted an Israeli strategic center in Iraq.
Iranian state news agency IRNA, citing local reports, said without any evidence that “secret Israeli bases” were attacked. Iran’s statement indicated that the missiles were aimed at targets associated with Israeli intelligence agencies. Iranian news organization ISNA called Operation Martyr Soleimani and said the new missiles were aimed at “US invaders and terrorists.”
As many as 12 missiles were fired Sunday toward the US consulate in Iraq’s northern city of Irbil, with several missiles hitting the building, Iraqi and US security officials said.
Iranian state media agency IRNA, citing local reports, claimed without evidence that “secret Israeli bases” were targeted in the attack.
An unnamed Iraqi official said the ballistic missiles were fired from Iran, without elaborating. He said the projectiles were the Iranian-made Fateh-110, likely fired in retaliation for the two Revolutionary Guards killed in Syria last week in an alleged Israeli strike.
Iran as old of an enemy they are to us still tries to rattle the lion’s den. We have Russia and Iran in the one hand and it seems the Biden administration is hoping nothing happens to get us into a war in the other hand. We’re watching as Putin lays waist to Ukraine because he’s getting frustrated because he made a mistake thinking Ukraine would just roll over for him.
There’s an old saying, Sh^^% in one hand and want in the other. Biden wants this to go away but it just isn’t going anywhere.

You are so ever right Dana. The United States has been walking on eggshells for a while now. It’s time to crush a few of them.
It would require power and will. I think we still have the power, though much diminished, but certainly not the will. I doubt the power will survive the next three years either.
Iran tried no such thing while Trump was President, for good reason. With Brandon, they have little to fear. After Trump took out Number 1 terrorist, Solumeini, what did Iran do? They yelled and screamed. Now, they have the freedom to act. Brandon is begging them to pump more oil and sign a new Nuke Deal. Brandon has Iran right where they want him, vulnerable.
With the Brandon administration trying to resurrect the Iran nuclear deal, and an old traitor, John Kerry, running around crying about climate change, it looks as if the Brandon administration is fully aware of the problem they caused, and wishes only to further the advances of Iran, and keep the US in some kind of submission. The only one who will do any bruising to Iran will be Israel, as Dana said above. The Democrats see submission and appeasement as diplomacy.
All the Iran nuclear deal will do is to make another country, who happens to be an enemy of the west, nuclear capable. I can’t see anyone in their right mind going along with that kind of diplomacy.
