For most of my life “progressives” have espoused ideas of desegregation. I remember watching news reports (when news programs showed news) about protests of forced bussing and desegregation in schools in Boston and other cities. Desegregating schools was seen as a virtue. “Separate, but equal” was seen as a regressive expression racial bias. Frequently, all-male institutions (such as schools) were destroyed, while all female institutions (such as schools) were upheld by the courts. Men and white people were prohibited from choosing with whom they freely associated and assembled in the name of racial and gender equality.
Today, however, segregation seems to be the goal of “progressives.” Leftists want separate “safe spaces” in schools where white people are not allowed. Leftist schools (and it is difficult, even in Red states, to find schools that are not Leftists) are holding separate race-based graduation ceremonies, dorms, safe spaces, etc. In Georgia, they are even dividing math classes by race. Separate and more equal. “Progressive,” race baiting Leftists have become so progressive they are regressing to a segregated world, endeavoring to erase 60 years of desegregation. The progressives, with their woke ideologies, critical race theory, and other lies, are regressing back to a pre-MLK world in which the most important thing is the color of one’s skin, not the content of their character.

In the 1970s and 1980s, a lot of work was done to ensure that women had access to opportunities to compete in athletics on an even playing field. This is known as Title IX. In many cases this resulted in the elimination of men’s teams, because institutions needed to provide the same numbers of sports for both men and women. Giving women opportunities to compete in athletics against other women was seen as “progressive.” Now the “progressives” seek to destroy those opportunities. The Leftist, woke transgender movement seeks to enable biological men to participate in women’s athletics. In a sport like swimming, where the difference between first and second place can be 1/100th of a second, male (pretending to be a female) swimmer Lia Thomas has dominated. The New York Post reported, ” The record-shattering Thomas previously competed on the Penn men’s team and has transitioned to female.” Young women work their whole lives to achieve the top of their game in the sport of their choosing, but now they are seeing their opportunities taken away by the woke “progressive” mob. Candace Owens had it right when she opined,
“With early feminism, we were trying to create a space for women that was separate from men. We wanted women’s sports, we wanted women to be able to compete differently…
These young girls trained their whole lives to compete at the collegiate level in women’s sports and a now man “can just throw on a wig and say, ‘Actually, I am a woman too,’ and you can crush all of their records…and we’re actually erasing women. [my emphasis]
Imagine the dispair of the other women on the teams who know that they now have no opportunity for gold medals, the a coveted slot on a women’s athletic team has been taken by a man pretending to be a woman, or that a scholarship will be denied a woman to give it to a man pretending to be a woman. One of the really female UPenn swimmers said,
Women’s records are separate from men’s records. It’s its own distinct category because no woman is going to be as fast as a man, and here is just completely – we’re just throwing away the definition of a record to fit into someone else’s agenda of what it should mean to them when in reality it makes no scientific sense to do so.
The mother of a swimmer who was forced to swim competitively against a man pretending to be a woman said,
“Holy cow, we’re going to talk about a male swimmer — a full-grown male — attempting to take down female icon records, and taking a spot on an Ivy team from one of the Penn swimmers, who have rightfully deserved it,” she told Independent Women’s Forum, according to the Post Millennial. “And we’re talking about, this person’s gonna swim on every relay going forward at championship meets, is going to take the position of a woman on a travel team, is going to take a space in every finals.”
Girls are “frightened” to speak out about the inequality after they were warned to keep their mouths shut, the mother explained.
“And they’re frightened,” the woman said, her voice shaking with emotion. “They’re frightened of losing friends. They’re frightened of being kicked off their teams. They’re frightened of being told by their universities that they’re transphobic and hateful.”
Instead of cheering Lia Thomas, let’s cheer for University of Virginia’s Emma Weyant, a freshman, who finished second with 4 minutes 34 seconds and 99 milliseconds, dropping 2 seconds and 26 milliseconds from her previous time. When men are allowed to displace women from women’s sports, let’s cheer for the first female finisher and ignore the pretender.
Also, as a father, I don’t want my daughter playing soccer with heavier, stronger, faster, and more aggressive boys. My daughter-in-law played ice hockey at a Pennsylvania college. It would have been unfair for her to have to play against the men’s team — or men pretending to be women. The woke “progressives” are not only taking away opportunities; they are also increasing the likelihood of injuries to the women who now must compete against men pretending to be women.
The “progressives” have gone so far that they are now regressive.
Ironically, USA Today chose Assistant Secretary of Health Rachel Levine as one of their women of the year. Levine is a biological male. BizPacReview reported that Fox News host Tucker Carlson laid out the irony of a “biological man” receiving such an honor. USA Today describes the list as, “Recognition of women across the country who’ve made a significant impact.” In a world in which we seek to extol the accomplishments of various races, ethnicities, and genders with their own special months, USA Today chose a transgender man pretending to be a woman as a “woman of the year.” With women achieving greatness in science, medicine, business, and politics, USA Today chose to honor a man as a woman of the year — in the name of “progress.” Hmmm. Sounds regressive to me.
