As the old saying goes, on these hot and humid days, “I’m not worth the bullet it would take to put me out of my misery.” Work a bit outside early in the morning or late in the afternoon, and that’s it. I have to piddle away the rest of the day inside, where I can walk and breathe at the same time. I think Sam Houston was right when he said, “If I owned hell and Texas (or Louisiana for us), I’d farm out Texas and live in hell.”
Our original McClure ancestor came to this place when it was just a territory, and he came here from upstate New York, where it is bound to be cooler in the summer. If he had been more concerned with the climate, there wouldn’t be generations of McClures in this wickedly hot place. I suppose I should be thankful that he did come, for I’d much rather be a southerner than a damyankee any day. But, oh moan and groan, I hates this heat in July and August.
Having to stay inside means I watch more of the news than is healthy, and I read more than is good for the blood pressure. Every day, there are commercials on the news station for things to make my brain and body work better, something to put me to sleep, pillows and other products from Mike Lindell, over and over and over. Once in a while, a commercial will be slipped in for us all to send money overseas to help some country that hates us and wants us obliterated from the earth.
I ask you, who decided that Americans have to save every backward, cruel, ignorant third world country that will not take care of its own citizens. This won’t sit well with the kindhearted, but I cannot see why we should ship millions of dollars of aid to these savage nations, where the people get nothing and the warlords get it all. Why do I want to feed these people who will only grow up to pack guns and attack the American embassies and American companies trying to bring a little prosperity to them. They are taught to hate America, hate us, hate capitalism, hate Christianity, hate decency. Why should we feed our enemies?
Just think of how much money has been sent to that corrupt country, Ukraine, whose president looks like he escaped from the Seattle grunge community. Billions of dollars that could have helped in America, to build the border fence, upgrade our infrastructure, protect our citizens on the streets of every demoncrat hellhole city. Wasted money, wasted, wasted; I would have been happy to keep what I had to pay in taxes this year, instead of seeing it shipped out to one of the most corrupt countries on this earth.
See, the problem is this: I was taught that if you were decent and honest in your dealings with people, you’d be doing the right thing. We all were taught to love our country, respect our flag, to be proud to be a lucky American. Justice was blind, and right would win in the final tally. Respect for our elders and teachers and leaders was expected, and punished if we fell short. Church was important, and our pastors were there to lead us to heaven through the love of Jesus Christ; and their teachings were meant to guide us on how Christianity should be applied to everyday life.
From what I hear on the news or read on the internet, all of what we were taught is not only passe’, it is downright wrong. Lie, cheat, steal, destroy, murder: this is what drives the wicked in Antifa and BLM and other thugs with no group affiliation. Society cannot continue on this path for much longer. The mayhem of the big cities is beginning to spill over to the suburbs and surrounding small communities. How long before they start this bedlam in the countryside and small towns and villages? Will we sit here and let them destroy our way of life, not fight back for fear of being criticized?
Please do yourself a favor and don’t send me any scriptures about ‘loving people as yourself’ and ‘do unto others,’ and ‘turning cheeks.’ I already know these stories, and I also know that God helps those who help themselves, and Christ said that He came not to send peace, but a sword. If we don’t fight for our culture and our beliefs and our country and our people, we’ll be lying right there in the dust with all the other mighty empires that rotted from within

It’s better to lead by example than to give money and tell someone what to do with it. If those backwards countries wish to improve, look at us as an example, for a change. You can’t make someone do something he doesn’t want to do.
Charity begins at home.
Alma, you’ve been reading my mind again. I love your writing!
