“The climate debate is over. The science is settled.”
– President Barack Obama, May 2016
“The science here is settled. The best way we can protect our frontline workers and slow the spread of the virus is to double down on mask wearing, social distancing, and limiting indoor gatherings where people are most at risk of transmission.”
– Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, December 7, 2020
“It’s very dangerous. A lot of what you’re seeing as attacks on me are quite frankly attacks on science, because all of the things I have spoke about consistently from the very beginning, have been fundamentally based on science.”
– Dr. Anthony Fauci, June 9, 2021
“The guy should be fired on the spot.”
– Dr. Anthony Fauci, responding to a comment by Fox News host Jesse Watters regarding the need for others to more publicly challenge Fauci’s assertions regarding COVID-19, December 22, 2021
Greetings my fellow Americans!
Overt suppression of free speech is nothing new to human society (which is why the American founders addressed it in our Bill of Rights). Those who have historically sought power and control over others typically built their empires mostly around linguistic narratives (with some forceful action mixed in) which cast the powermongers in the most positive, dissent-free, and/or fear-filled lights possible, in order to achieve and maintain relatively submissive and docile collections of subjects. While there is much more to the crafting and situating of those narratives for maximum effect (e.g., ignorance of the subjects via denial of proper education), it is the basis of what we have come to call propaganda in modern times.
What does appear to be relatively newer (at least in the United States) is the restriction of free public exchanges amongst the scientific community. Great advances in the medical and technological sciences have been realized in much of the western world under the auspices of free speech and relatively free markets over the past few centuries, which have benefitted multitudes of peoples over generations. These led to the inception of several large companies in both industries, as well as commensurate growth in the sizes of governments charged with ensuring that speech and markets within their purview remained free.
As both the private and public sectors continued to expand around, and greatly profit from, these industries, most of us who were reaping the fruits of their advancements showed little concern for the power they were accumulating. Our lives were all the better for both, after all: As we received our employer-paid healthcare and prescriptions, utilized our free email, cloud storage, and social media accounts, and worked from home more and more thanks to ever-increasing virtualization of our day-to-day commercial interactions, we felt even more healthy, free and autonomous, and had little reason to question the motives of our benefactors.
Some of us did recognize that government was showing up in more and more of our daily lives, and resented this, but on balance felt that we were still progressing both individually and as a society. Few, if any, realized the role the companies in the “private” sector have been playing in the enablement of that intrusion, and in the crafting of public policy which has led us to the precipice of totalitarianism.
The theme of this article being censorship as the antithesis of science, I’d like to circle back (sorry Jen Psaki) to the current perversion of our scientific disciplines at the hands of the aforementioned entities who have fattened themselves on the American freedoms which they now seek to deny to others. Big Government, Big Pharma, Big Healthcare, and Big Tech have all grown to seemingly gargantuan proportions during our post-WWII celebration of freedom, liberty, health and autonomy, and now seek in collaboration to use their power to squelch the threat of competition—for business, for earthly resources, for life itself.
While the so-called masterminds of “progress” have been at this for some time (re Overpopulation and Global Cooling in the 1960s and ‘70s), it is clear that they consider now to be the time that the global society is ripe for radical change, and that they have sufficient power to effect it. The overall quality of U.S. education having been on the decline for at least the last two generations, the meanings of words like “science” are being diluted and manipulated to mean something much different than from even 50 or so years ago. Science in its canonical sense demanded not only the free and open exchange of ideas, but also that it never be “settled.” Neither censorship nor absolute certainty had any place of prominence or authority in the pure scientific method; while people sought to understand and explain as much of the world around us as possible, they recognized that such certainty was impossible. Those who now seek to institute and operate a global authority—and those who advocate for such centralized power and control—do so through the bastardization of science which is predicated on absolutes and suppresses dissent (and further learning).
True science has been turned on its ear for the sake of insulating those who have built great wealth and power on its purity and who now seek to deny it to the rest of us. In this new paradigm, the likes of Obama, Whitmer and Fauci are given free rein to redefine it, while former insiders and ethical purists like Drs. Robert Malone, Peter McCullough, Vladimir Zelenko, Simone Gold, and many others are being ignored and marginalized.
We were all blind to the real collusion which has been going on for decades between those who benefitted most from the scientific revolutions of the 20th Century. We all need to open our eyes and resist the darkness they all now seek for the rest of us before it’s too late.
God bless America
