Following CDC Decision, School Vaccine Mandates Become a Big Issue in Governor Races

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices on Thursday voted unanimously to add the COVID-19 vaccine to the childhood immunization schedule for 2023. The new schedule calls for children to take their first vaccine at the age of six months.

To be clear, the CDC did not institute a nationwide school COVID-19 vaccine mandate with this vote. However, the CDC ACIP guidelines are leaned on heavily by states. This decision by the CDC essentially guarantees that many states, particularly blue states, will require COVID vaccinations for children to attend school. The new recommendations will likely be rejected by red states.

It’s surprising that the CDC would choose to vote on what is most definitely a political issue less than three weeks away from the midterms.

Because the decision to adopt the new guidelines will be determined by the states, this could become a hot issue, particularly in governor races.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis immediately announced his opposition to a COVID-19 vaccine mandate for children in his state.

Ohio Senate candidate J.D. Vance and Pennsylvania gubernatorial candidate Doug Mastriano, both Republicans, have come out forcefully and vowed that vaccine mandates will not be enacted if they win in November.

This is likely to be a very positive issue for Republicans and one they will hammer home until Election Day.

We’re not hearing a whole lot from Democratic candidates on the CDC vote. And except for perfunctory reports on the vote itself and accusations that Fox News’ Tucker Carlson spouted “disinformation” about the story on his Tuesday night show, we’re not hearing much from the liberal media either.

In the segment below, Carlson asked Johns Hopkins School of Medicine professor Dr. Marty Makary if there’s any medical justification for this.

“Well, there’s certainly no clinical data. They’ve got data from eight mice on the Omicron vaccine in young people,” he replied. “There has never been a vaccine added to the childhood immunization schedule without solid clinical evidence that it reduces disease significantly in the community. The COVID vaccine in children will be the first that will be added with no clinical data.”

Makary said that physicians who ask to see the data are “basically told, ‘Stop asking questions.’ Dr. [Ashish] Jha, who’s the chief COVID adviser at the White House has said he has seen the data, but it’s not public information. What are they hiding?” Makary asks.

What are they hiding indeed!

Forcing anyone, regardless of their age, to take a COVID vaccine is wrong. Already, a startling number of adverse reactions, including deaths, have been reported following vaccination. There is still so much scientists don’t know, particularly about long term effects of these vaccines.

Many Americans will be unhappy with this decision and they are apt to take their discontent to the polls.

Two weeks after President Joe Biden’s vaccine mandate announcement in September 2021, a Morning Consult poll found his job approval rating among black voters had fallen by five points. Black voters who “disapproved rose 7 points to 24 percent.” Among unvaccinated black voters, his net approval rating fell “17 points since before the rollout of the mandates.”

Each Democratic candidate must be forced to take a position on this issue and voters will cast their ballots accordingly.

  1. Had not seen this anywhere – great post and information!

CDC taking too much money from big Pharma? Why else would they recommend such an untested therapeutic to be used on children? Just another three-letter agency that needs to go!

  2. Nothing could go wrong, right? “Well, there’s certainly no clinical data. They’ve got data from eight mice on the Omicron vaccine in young people,” he replied. “There has never been a vaccine added to the childhood immunization schedule without solid clinical evidence that it reduces disease significantly in the community. The COVID vaccine in children will be the first that will be added with no clinical data.”
