Hooray Candace Cameron Bure

Recently the Daily Wire called attention to an interview that Candace Cameron Bure made with the Wall Street Journal. Bure is one of several actresses and actors who have fled the increasingly woke Hallmark Channel to move to the Great American Family channel. According to the Daily Wire,

When asked if there would be any LGBTQ storylines in those projects, she replied, “I think that Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at the core.”

LGBTQ+ zealots on social media were apoplectic over the “hurtful” and “hateful” comment from Bure. It seems that the interviewer was seeking to trap Bure, like when an interviewer asked Truett Cathy what he thinks about abortion. When you ask someone who closes all his restaurants on Sunday and whose happy meal toys promote religion what he feels about abortion, you already knew the answer to the question before you asked it. Bure is well known for her conviction to Christianity, and she publicly moved to Great American Family a year or so ago over increased wokeness at Hallmark. Should there have been any surprise at her answer? Or was the interviewer trying to trick her into saying something against her beliefs?

I used to watch the Hallmark channel. Most of my DVDs are old black-and-white movies. I like the stories, characters, and thoughtful dialog of those old movies. I know they will have a happy ending. Watching the Leftists openly seek to destroy America is depressing, so watching Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart, or John Wayne come out on top is a welcome respite from the world. Hallmark movies, in many ways, reminded me of those old movies. When the kids were younger, I didn’t have to worry about who would say something vulgar or woke (or both), who would take off their clothes, or what message was being crammed down our throats by holier-than-thou celebrities and corporate robber barons.

In the past two years, the woke programming and commercials were turning me off. Many of the commercials promote ideas I find repugnant. Subtle (and increasingly less subtle) subplots promoted ideas I disliked. Hallmark’s Mahogany brand promotes racist “anti-racism.”

I screened Great American Family last weekend, the channel that Bure has joined, after reading about Bure’s interview. The movies are every bit as good as Hallmark movies once were. Many of the Hallmark stars, male and female, have jumped ship. Like Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, TN, GAF movies are not afraid to talk about God, traditional middle-class family values, or patriotism. I applaud the channel and the stars who have made the move. GAF has filled gaps in its lineup for those actors and actresses who have not moved with a new batch of rising stars and starlets alongside Hallmark alums. It is nice to have one channel out of hundreds where I don’t have to worry about what message they will try to foist on my grandchildren.

Imagine one channel in a sea of wokeness where you can find a haven from the militant and intolerant woke!

Bure’s comment was not hurtful or hateful. Because she said something pro-traditional marriage should not be misconstrued as her saying anything hateful against LGBTQ+ “marriage.” Supporting and promoting one idea is not the same as attacking another concept. When the LGBTQ+ religious zealots attacked Bure, they further demonstrated that the most intolerant people on the planet are those who hypocritically espouse “tolerance.” Only woke ideas may be tolerated!

The reaction to Bure’s comment exemplifies the difference between a conservative and a Leftist. (Leftists are not Jeffersonian liberals, so stop calling them liberals!) If a conservative doesn’t like a television show, he will change the channel. If a Leftist doesn’t enjoy a television show, the whole channel must be attacked, vilified, and banned. It is not enough for a Leftist to have 987 channels that promote the woke agenda. Leftists feel duty-bound to attack the one channel that does not toe the approved narrative. They feel compelled to attack the few political refugees from Hollywood who believe in God and traditional values. Their life is without meaning unless they are attacking or destroying something. The Left creates nothing; they only destroy.

Leftists are like locusts. They have destroyed coastal America (except Florida) and are now moving to fertile areas to kill them too.

Disney has become increasingly woke. We live in Orlando. We honeymooned at Woke Disney World. We maintained annual passes for years. We took our kids there when they were younger. We bought their DVDs and initially subscribed to Disney+. No more! Since Woke Disney has become a Political Action Committee (PAC), we canceled their channel and our tickets. I no longer see their movies in the theater or buy their disks. Disney has lost billions on Disney+, and its stock has fallen 40% since consumers and investors abandoned the sinking ship. Disney recently fired Chapek and brought back Iger to stop the hemorrhage. He has his work cut out for him; although, at this point, it is still being determined whether he thinks Disney has headed in the wrong direction himself. It will take a long time for Iger to turn that huge ship sailing through a dark and evil ocean of wokeness, America hating, and globalization that is destroying our once-great nation. Is it possible? Massive changes and a long time are needed for Disney to bring me back as a patron.

So, I, for one, salute Bure and her brave stand against the armies of darkness. I plan to support GAF and eschew Hallmark and Disney. Like boycotts of Chik-fil-A that only increased lines at their restaurants, I predict that the attacks on Bure and GAF by the LGBTQ+ community will only serve to grow the channel and promote their movies.
