There was a time when Democrats tried to hide their wrongdoing. During the early days of the FBI’s investigation into members of then-candidate Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, for example, agents at least tried to maintain the appearance of propriety.
Several years later, when special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation came up empty, no one inside the FBI was held responsible for what had clearly been a politically motivated hoax. The realization they wouldn’t have to answer for trying to destroy a presidential candidate and then his presidency clearly emboldened them. And they set their sights even higher.
Throughout the Trump years, the administrative state solidified and grew to include the government agencies and the career bureaucrats who inhabit them, the legacy media and, of course, Big Tech.
Surprisingly, it was a liberal, Patrick Lawrence, who identified the coming new order in Washington early on. In February 2017, shortly after then-National Security Adviser Gen. Michael Flynn had resigned his post, Lawrence wrote a very prescient piece in The Nation titled, Are We Witnessing a Coup Operation Against the Trump White House?
Lawrence wrote, “You have studied the Enlightenment? Good: You know what I mean when I say we are headed into the Endarkenment. The lights upon us are dimming. We have been more or less abandoned by a press that proves incapable of informing us in anything approaching a disinterested fashion. … This is the media’s disgrace, but our problem.”
And it certainly did become our problem.
In 2019, the New York Times attempted to rewrite U.S history with the introduction of their 1619 project, a concept that put slavery at the center of the American story.
The death of George Floyd in May 2020 catapulted the 1619 project and the cries of systemic racism to the forefront of national debate in America. The ensuing riots that swept U.S. cities changed the country forever and heralded the unbridled wokism that threatens to destroy America today.
Woke principles, based on Marxism and once confined (mostly) to our universities, have worked their way into every aspect of American society including our government, the media, Hollywood, corporations, public schools, and our speech.
How were they able to bring about such radical change so quickly? It’s simple. We allowed them to.
Candace Owens joined Fox News’ Tucker Carlson on Tuesday night to talk about America’s sharp left turn. They began with a discussion about Democrats’ success in carrying two seriously cognitively-challenged candidates, President Joe Biden and Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA), over the finish line. Neither man was fit to serve in public office. Yet both won their elections. Insane, right?
Owens made several very compelling points. “We can call these people incompetent, they are. But does incompetency matter? No. Because they’re here to serve the party. … And if they’re incompetent, that’s even better.” It makes them easier to control.
“Their [Democrats’] final war is a war against nature. It’s a war against sanity. It makes us question our sanity,” Owens said.
“You would never think that we would be having these debates that we’re having today. That people would be telling you that it’s a wrong thing to say that an 86-year-old is old. Suddenly, we’re being attacked for this. Everything is being given an ‘ism.’ And the reason is … it is the final war and they need to make sure that they control, even language.”
Carlson noted it is especially language that must be controlled. “They’ve cowed the population, even smart people who know better, into not saying the obvious things.”
“Putting incompetent people in the cockpits of commercial airliners or having them perform heart surgery is insane. Like you’re insane.” He added, “And those are the very things that no one is willing to say.”
Owens encouraged people to speak up to Democrats. “Too many conservatives are acting like cowards. … This is how they [the Democrats] have gained so much territory. This is how we are fighting them in the school systems, how we’re fighting them in the classrooms, how we are fighting them simply to acknowledge that women can never be men and men can never be women. These are insane arguments, but they’re happening because good people sit by and say absolutely nothing while they run amok.
“The Democrats used to be quiet about their corruption,” Owens said. “Now, they’re corrupt openly and they’re mocking you and what they’re really asking you is ‘What are you going to do about it?’”
“So what, we knew Fetterman was mentally incapacitated and we still allowed him to make it all the way to the Senate. So what, we know that Joe Biden can barely walk, we can see the early signs of dementia, and what are you going to do about it?”
Owens called on everyone to start speaking the truth and to do so boldly because, “If they win this battle, there is nothing left.” She is right.

Yes, Ms. Owens is absolutely correct. We must fight for our beliefs, culture & country and do it every opportunity. Just don’t back down in the face of idiocy from the enemy. Be informed & stand your ground.
The Democrat Party is built on a foundation of lies. It is a house of cards ready to fall, if we push it over. We have to push it over and not allow them to rebuild it.
It started with “I don’t care what people do in their bedrooms.” I remember when Conservatives started saying that. I remember when Conservatives used to say with boldness that transgenderism was a mental illness — I haven’t heard that for a while. Ms. Vaughn is right, our timidity is directly linked to our success, or lack thereof, in this culture war. We are losing.
