Recently, a U.S. Congressperson and a radio show political commentator have posited that America’s best chance of survival is to become two separate nations – red states and blue states. The problem is an almost equal number of democrats and republicans can be found in each state.
Therefore, the split might best be along ideological lines, i.e., Democrat cities and Republican counties. Call these combined municipalities: United Cities of America. Label the rest of the country: United Rural America.(Originally suggested in my editorial: America Divided, 2012). The outer interstate belts that typically surround the large metropolises would be de facto borders.
The UCA can then enjoy the pleasures of giving their constituents all the free housing, cell phones, debt-cancellations, open borders, gun control, entitlements and socialist programs they want – sans URA’s taxes.
United Rural America probably won’t need to pass a lot of laws, but you can bet they’ll secure their boundaries.
Navy and Marines to the cities, Army and Air Force to the URA. The FBI – but only as an investigative agency – USCG, FAA and SSA will be joint efforts. All other federal bureaus and agencies will close.
