The Republican National Convention shape-shifted effortlessly to become the Trump National Convention. Ecstasy abounded through the transition. Some of the enthusiasm is the residual emotion after such a close call assassination attempt. Yet, much of it goes beyond the normal insanity of partisan political, candidate hero worship in any other un-contested national party convention in memory. It’s the creepy cult adoration and obeisance which will cost Republicans dearly – and truly harm America if it puts the TNC (formerly RNC) out of power in 2030. Biden out doesn’t change what is happening.
It’s the long game, Baby. POTUS and Congress in 2028 control the 2030 Census. 2030 Census sets the pick for Congressional control and electoral college tilt for President. For a decade. Long enough to bake in the illegal alien vote for the Dem-Commies. Or, long enough to cement Constitutional Conservativism as the Free State of Florida is doing right now.
So, why would Trump Family Inc. make the GOP at the National level their wholly owned subsidiary?
The benign answer is Trump sees the advantage in expanding the GOP from its Conservative and Establishment base to appeal to disaffected, independent voters issue by issue. Perhaps, if the theatrical appeal rises to the Shakespearean heights of “The Apprentice”, the millions who follow a Satanist, porn star will vote Trump and his children for generations.
Or, maybe in his mind, Trump is a new, better label for Republican. The Don has a lifetime of experience in making his name a brand. Not a real, compelling narrative, just a label.
Perhaps, Trump sees politics as the new family business. It’s much less complicated and risky than huge construction projects or the many other ventures of his that failed. It only requires the showmanship to keep the Cult’s eyes glazed over enough to swing the vote in Republican primaries. That will intimidate the feckless cowards who are career politician Establishment Republicans. Add, the ratings power Trump’s act brings to Con Media and you have their complete, fawning support. Voila!
However, there are two problems. Reality and Conservatives.
Reality is Trump doesn’t know governance. He makes more awful personnel choices than his lucky few good ones. His government looks good by comparison only because the Dem-Commies have gone barking moon-bat insane in their rush to institute Human Secularist Totalitarianism in America. Their trying to do Marxism- by-new-names rightly, for the first time ever, goes against apolitical Normies’ common sense.
Conservatives across America will vote for Trump and many enthusiastically so. Conservatives who aren’t Kool-aid guzzling devotees are maybe 25% of the voters. They vote issues. When, not if, Trump betrays them issue by issue, they’ll peel off. Stay home. Vote selectively. Some already have.
Likewise, the swing State Yankees who vote Obama 08 & 12 and Trump 16 & 24 will return to whatever is shiny in 26 and 28.
That’s how Republicans lose Congress and the Presidency by 2028. And risk all of America in the 2030 Census.
Here’s something the Trumpites – Hulk Hogan’s name, not mine – don’t get:
You should welcome people of every background as they agree with you. You aren’t compelled to compromise your issues to gain fewer votes than you’ll lose.
The addition of Liberals won’t exceed the subtraction of Conservatives.
The addition of easily swayed, mushy Middles won’t have the loyalty of Conservative Christians when challenges come.
Consequently, if the Dem-Commies put up a super weak candidate, Trump may win “Yugely” in 2024 and lose consistently thereafter.
Furthermore, decide if politics is just entertainment or is it about the increasingly, terrifying government power to affect – control – day to day living and the profound, fundamental decisions about the economy and war?
If politics, thus government, is about big things in life and the big ideas which shape the big things, then it can be presented in both an entertaining and uplifting manner.
As the Culture coarsens and cheapens, it’s challenging to be culturally-relevant without debasement. But, it’s possible. Remember the Cultural blip from song about “Rich men who live north of Richmond?” Or, “Don’t try that in a small town?”
Republicans don’t have to go with Drag Queen kiddie-reading and grooming hour to win massively. The coalition of wage-earners, half the Boomer seniors, small-business owners, self-employed professionals, believing Christians and Jews, and ideological Movement Conservatives is bigger than FDR’s 60 year ruling coalition.
The ruling elites and their minions on the government plantation must vote harvest and use illegal aliens to win the swing States.
Is yon Trump looking to his alignment of the stars for the TNC to serve Trump and his family’s new, very good grift? TBD.
