Two Jewish students at the University of Pittsburgh suffered injuries after an attack involving a glass bottle near the university’s Cathedral of Learning, according to an official announcement from the institution. The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. on a Friday, and the victims, who were wearing traditional Jewish yarmulkes, received on-site medical treatment.

Authorities reported that the assailant, who wore a kaffiyeh—a checkered scarf often associated with Palestinian solidarity—had no ties to the university and was promptly detained by the university police.
In response to the violence, the university has engaged with the Hillel University Center and the Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh, emphasizing a strong stance against both violence and antisemitism. The university leadership condemned the attack, reaffirming its commitment to a safe and inclusive environment where acts of hatred and violence are unacceptable.
