There is growing fear in Beirut after an Israeli strike on the centre of the city killed 22 people.
Previous Israeli attacks had focussed on the southern suburbs, home to the militant group Hezbollah.
The operation was thought to have targeted the Hezbollah commander Wafiq Safa but the group said he was still alive.
Lebanon’s Health Ministry says more than 2,000 people have now been killed in Israeli attacks on the country, including 127 children and 261 women.
