It’s an unfortunate fact of life, but when somebody does stupid things, the innocent often suffer in the process. Take the community of Pacific Palisades, now virtually burned to the ground.
While one should never wish ill on another, especially the innocent, reality is harsh: play stupid games… win stupid prizes.
In 2024, over 71% of voters in Pacific Palisades cast ballots for Kamala Harris, seven points higher than Los Angeles County as a whole.[1] Moreover, during the 2021 recall vote against Governor Gavin Newsom, the Palisades voted overwhelming, by over 2 to 1, to not recall him.[2]
Yet, some people in the Palisades seemed to be waking up. In the 2022 Los Angeles Mayoral race, the Palisades voted for Karen Bass’ challenger, former Republican-turned-Democrat Rick Caruso. This included a number of prominent celebs, like Katy Perry and Netflix’s Ted Sarandos. Nevertheless, Bass had plenty of celebrity heavyweights behind her.[3] [4] This was in contrast to Bass’ predecessor, Eric Garcetti, whose office endorsed Hillary Clinton in 2016 and garnered 84% of the vote in Los Angeles County as a whole. In addition, Los Angeles County voted 64% in favor of the anti-crime Proposition 36,[5] even though the LA Supervisors voted 3-1 to oppose it.[6]
Simply put, Pacific Palisades is a mixed bag, with a load of wildcat voting that can seemingly defy explanation. Nevertheless, it is clear that by and large the voters of the Palisades prefer Democrats in general, and leftists in particular, especially at state level and above. The tragic results are now obvious to all.
President Donald Trump tried to warn these leftists. On Joe Rogan’s podcast, just prior to the election, the two discussed the fact that the left, all for the sake of the “climate” and “environment,” took efforts to divert water from the region while concurrently refusing to clear old-growth from their forests. Trump tried to bring these people back to reality, but to no avail. To make matters worse, leftist policies drove insurance companies out of the area, and many lost their fire insurance just months before these fires raged.[7]
We need to remember that the same people who helped create the conditions for this nightmare are the same folks that tell us that men can become women and vice versa. They are the same people that push to kill preborn children, and the same people that allowed crime to run rampant. They rage against reality, and suffer the consequences, dragging the innocent down with them.
The real question now before us, will the leftist people of Pacific Palisades, not to mention Los Angeles County and the surrounding area, learn anything from what has happened? The gubernatorial election of 2026, in which Newsom cannot partake due to term limits, will determine this.
But if history is any indicator, it is unlikely that most leftists in Pacific Palisades will learn from this. Leftists don’t learn… they double down in search of stupid prizes, with tragic results for all.
