The Left’s War on Trump 2.0: A Descent into Madness

The Democrats’ resistance to President Donald Trump’s return has reached the point of madness. Already reeling from the deluge of executive orders reversing the far-Left policies of the Biden administration, they lost all control when the United States Agency for International Development was exposed as little more than a global slush fund for progressive causes by Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency.

Well aware that the reports of corruption and waste are accurate, and that Musk’s brigade of 20-something tech wizards will be systematically examining the other 99% of the federal budget, hysteria has replaced rational thinking and prevented a coherent response. Democrats are lashing out haphazardly and the party’s credibility, already diminished by the November election, is disintegrating before our eyes.

Washington Post columnist Ruth Marcus inadvertently spoke the truth in a recent op-ed. Titled Trump 2.0: The most damaging first two weeks in presidential history, its subheadline read, “Trump’s second term is all about curtailing government’s power and reach.”

To the average citizen, the title and subheadline of the piece may seem contradictory. Most Americans consider the curtailment of government power and reach a positive development. Not so for the Democrats. Because U.S. federal agencies are largely led and staffed by liberals, an expanding government translates to an extension of Democratic power. Conversely, a leaner, more streamlined government threatens their grip on power, and as always, Democrats will do whatever is necessary to maintain it.

Democratic lawmakers beclowned themselves last week after DOGE revealed the extent of the corruption and waste inside USAID. In a collective frenzy, a large group of House Democrats and several senate leaders converged outside of the Treasury Department building to let their voices be heard.

New Jersey Rep. LaMonica McIver bellowed into the microphone, “We will not take this! We will fight back! And godd*** it, shut down the Senate! We are at war!” Was she calling for an insurrection?

Massachusetts Rep. Ayanna Pressley directed her ire toward her Republican colleagues. With California Rep. Maxine Waters grinning at her side, she shouted, “Pay attention. We’re here today in the hopes that you will see the light. But if you do not see the light, we will bring the fire. Resist!”

She referred to Musk as a “Nazi nepo baby.”

Lawmakers railed that no one voted for Musk, yet he has been granted unprecedented access to government information. However, the reality is that many powerful government officials are not elected by the people. Rather, they are appointed by those who are elected through free and fair elections.

Remember Valerie Jarrett? She was a top advisor to former President Barack Obama and was considered by some to be the most powerful woman in America during his presidency. And no one voted for her either.

Similarly, no one cast a ballot for the leadership team at USAID either. Yet, until last week, they had the authority to distribute more than $40 billion in taxpayer funds as they saw fit.

Trump’s plan to appoint Musk to conduct a line-by-line audit of the federal budget to identify waste was a central pillar of his campaign. And judging by his decisive victory, the majority of voters strongly approved.

When Musk’s team moved on to the Treasury Department, Democrats grew increasingly frantic. Fully aware of the vast wasteful spending and potential fraud likely to be uncovered, the party pulled out all the stops to halt the process – including enlisting a highly partisan New York district court judge to issue an emergency order on Friday night to block DOGE’s access to the Treasury payment system.

The ruling was ex-parte meaning that the Trump administration was not given the “opportunity to be heard before the judge ruled.” Cornell Law School Professor William Jacobson noted the ruling “also reek[ed] of judge shopping, because plaintiffs would have known who was the emergency duty judge, so by going in on a Friday night they evaded the normal random assignment system for this purpose.”

These tactics of desperation may slow Musk down, but they won’t stop him. The DOGE team has only begun peeling back the layers of rot festering beneath the surface of the Washington swamp.

For Democrats, their worst nightmare is unfolding in real time. They know exactly what Musk will uncover. They also know that once their corruption is fully exposed, their grip on power will slip away. Former Vice President Kamala Harris’s humiliating defeat already delivered a devastating blow to the Democratic brand. The revelation of widespread corruption within their ranks could be its death knell.

The Democrats’ fear is off the charts, and as a result, Musk now has a massive target on his back. In their eyes, he must be destroyed.

DOGE is to Democrats what a bucket of water was to the Wicked Witch of the West. Expect the wailing and gnashing of teeth to grow even louder as Musk presses on. Consider it further proof that DOGE is accomplishing exactly what it set out to do.
