In Memory of Peter Serefine, by Donald Townsend

Editor’s Note: A good friend and associate has passed on. Pete Serefine was one of the original authors here at American Free News Network. AFNN partnered with him on his podcast and News Blog. We are a better organization because he showed up one day. We will miss him.

There are times when horrible revelations happen to us that strike more venomously than snakes, and today came with one of them, with the passing of Peter A Serefine Jr.

Beginning as a coworker, and gradually as a friend through our differing political opinions that would result in lengthy and heavy, but respectable, debates, and then as someone to be sought out whenever the community needed a memorial speech, Peter was strong, healthy, ever-present in my life. And now, with a very sudden cancer attack, a huge amount of tomorrows have been ripped away.

This vibrant man accomplished so much in such a short time just from when I began to know him. He’s written books, hosted podcasts, been a radio personality, and led the activist charge for the Bellefonte Dog Park.

One of my favorite memories was, a few election cycles ago, I wrote him in as a candidate for the Election Board. I didn’t really think anything of it, until a few weeks later when he came to me, saying he’d received notification of his vote, and was trying to figure out who could have written him in. I was surprised to find out that my vote really did matter, I guess. When I told him, he first thanked me for the honor, and then half-yelled at me for not writing him in as Constable, instead😆.

He didn’t take the Election Board, but he then proceeded to chase and actually become Constable!

A truly admirable and intelligent man, steadfast in his place in this town……just gone, taking with him a significant portion of our own livelihoods with him.

We love you, Peter, and deeply miss you.
