The editor of STORY MAGAZINE, a long-established magazine, wrote to his readers about how they select stories for the publication:

“I think the idea behind blind submissions is that you are judging the work solely based on the work and not on anything about the author: their race, creed, gender identity, where they went to college, former contributor, unpublished or National Book Award winner, and so forth. But, I’d argue that all these factors do matter and should be considered.

“Hypothetically, let’s say all of our submissions are blind. We accept 12 stories. We are ready to publish them. And we discover all 12 are by white American males. Do we have problem? I say, absolutely. You know who gets angry about this example? Old white guys. That’s it. No one else.” Editor-in-Chief: Michael Nye (10 April 2025). 

Suppose a commercial airline needs to hire 12 pilots; 10 are qualified and hired; two who are not as qualified are hired to appease DEI goals. Who do you want flying the plane you’re on? The magazine is a .org indicating they are tax exempt, i.e., the taxes they don’t pay, we do. And the Dems wonder way Trump was elected.
