Donald Trump is a hatred magnet. It’s not that he harbors hatred towards anyone in particular, but he has an uncanny ability to bring it out in others. Conservative political commentators have likened Joe Biden’s 2022 “Red Speech” to a Hitlerian rallying cry. I think it was more like Hermann Melville’s Captain Ahab screaming at the white whale: “for hate’s sake, I spit my last breath at thee.” The Battle for the Soul of the Nation speech was a raw demonstration of the emotional state of the entire Democratic party – mindless visceral hatred of a single man and any who support him.
Donald Trump surrounds himself with independent women, yet his enemies insist he’s a misogynist. He has close friends of every skin tone, yet they claim he’s a racist. While Trump’s adversaries pervert the law to imprison him and his followers, they tell the voters he is a fascist. Trump’s political opponents even chant coexistence and tolerance, while they celebrate attempts to kill him.
But such characterizations are not objective assessments of his character. They are desperate attempts to dehumanize him, to maintain their own self-images. Were the haters to afford Trump any right to human dignity, their feelings towards him would become a thing of self-loathing rather than pride. They can’t let that happen, so instead they pretend that he is unworthy of the rights which they claim every American has.
But ultimately, Donald Trump’s unparalleled ability to inspire hatred in others is his superpower. What combat commander wouldn’t long for a mystical ability to inspire emotional rather than rational responses from his opponents? In The Art of War, Sun Tzu said:
It is the unemotional, reserved, calm, detached warrior who wins, not the hothead seeking vengeance …
Let me put that in 21st century pugilistic terms: Make the guy you’re fighting lose his temper, and he will be your bitch can be made to bend to your will.
Donald Trump is a political brawler. Nobody is better than he at triggering his opponents into hate fueled temper tantrums – and he knows it. At his bidding, the Democrats are slaves to their passions, rather than masters of their future.
President Trump’s stated mission is to return the United States to its pre 21st century glory. But he faces a gigantic obstacle. The radicals and their media propagandists have convinced a sizeable number of Americans to continue the Democrat party’s “fundamentally transform America” experiment. Trump needs to find a way to “red pill” the 75 million Americans who want freedom, but voted for socialist subjugation in the last election.
So, the Donald changed into his superhero costume, and made his opponents follow their hatred to its logical conclusion – resistance of everything he does, regardless of how it looks to the voting public.
President Trump attacked academia for supporting antisemitism. The left responded that Jew hatred is their first amendment right.
The Donald arrested judges that allegedly broke the law. The Dems responded that he is a tyrant because some people are above the law.
Trump tried to interrupt billions of dollars of government waste which DOGE had uncovered. The Dems called for the businesses of the auditor to be vandalized.
President Trump attempted to negotiate peace in eastern Europe. His opponents demanded that the war be funded by Americans indefinitely.
Trump granted asylum to South African farmers being massacred. The left responded that genocide is only bad when people of color are the victims.
The President shipped MS-13 rapists and murderers to their Central American home country. The Dems went to El Salvadore to partake in happy hour margaritas with the criminals.
President Trump declared America’s support for the security of Israel, and the Democrats couldn’t contain their rage. They came out in public support of Hamas, not even 25 years after Islamic terrorists had murdered over 3,000 Americans.
Just like that, Superhero Trump has reduced the approval rating of the Democrats to its lowest level in 3 decades (29 percent according to an NBC News poll). Not convinced that Trump’s superpower caused that collapse in approval? The approval of the Democrat party is down from 39 percent just before the election. It appears that something like 12 percent of the American population have taken the red pill in the last six months, and opened their eyes to the anti-American reality of the Democrat party. How many more will see the insanity of the Democrats in the next year and a half is anyone’s guess. But, when the 2026 campaign season kicks into overdrive, President Trump will simply need to ask Americans: Who do you trust more – us or them?
Will the Democrats cool their jets and seek compromise with “the great negotiator”? Or will they let Orange Man Bad trigger them into even more depraved demonstrations of hatred?
In Moby Dick, Captain Ahab’s hatred cost him his ship, his crew, and his life. Will the Democrats let their hatred cost them their donors, their voters, and their future? Only time will tell. But even if the party leadership tries to return to sanity, it’s not clear that their berserker base will let them. Just look at what happened to Senator Schumer, when he refused to let a government shutdown happen.
