There Are Irreconcilable Differences

“We reveal most about ourselves when we speak about others.”

~Kamand Kojouri

People ask me why I don’t answer my “critics” who in their writings want to disparage me or my ideas. I just remember the old “sticks and stones” rhyme I was taught long ago. So when I make a statement that someone disagrees with, show me where I’m wrong. But I won’t do your homework for you.

September 10th. When evil silences a voice like Charlie Kirk, JFK, MLK, or RFK, it does not simply silence them, it tries to silence free expression. Charlie was one of the great minds of this age. He did challenge ideas and debated them freely and for this was taken by a coward’s bullet. What I admired about Charlie, as did millions of others, especially young people, is that he turned myriad detractors into promoters. He spoke from a moral base challenging people through Socratic dialogue. Unfortunately, when they were unable to prevail they gave in to name calling, derision and as we saw, violence.

Riddle me this. Upon Charlie’s death how many buildings were burned, how many people were killed, how many lives destroyed? None. Vigils were held. Prayers said for he, for his family, and for a nation that lost a voice. But I am most disgusted with are our “leaders” who should know better. Their rhetoric is repugnant. And hearing people labeled as Nazis and fascists for years imprints on minds that cannot yet think.

And to those who celebrated his death, why? What purpose does celebration serve? Yet they danced on his grave when his body was not yet cold. That for me illustrates people who have lost their humanity and with it their soul.
We should all be ashamed because we have allowed hate to infiltrate discourse and to invade the minds of the youngest of our society. And thus a 22 year-old who bought into that bitter discourse has thrown his life, as well as the lives of those who loved him, away. Is that what we’ve become? I pray to God not.
