The Democrats, their one-offs, and their media allies reflexively “resist” everything Trumpian as a matter of course. Democrat senators have voted in virtual lock step against ALL Trump cabinet and sub-cabinet nominees. Democrats in Congress voted almost unanimously against the One Big Beautiful Bill, which contains the following provisions highly beneficial to Americans:
- Individual Income Tax Cuts: Permanently extends lower rates (top rate at 37%), increased standard deductions, and other brackets to prevent a ~$4 trillion tax hike set for 2026.
- Medicaid/SNAP: Work requirements for able-bodied adults; reduces provider taxes; stricter eligibility. Creates $50 billion Rural Health Transformation Program (2026–2030) to offset rural impacts.
- $170 billion+ for enforcement: Border wall construction, 10,000+ ICE officers, detention beds, Customs/Border Patrol funding; tax on remittances by non-citizens.
- Increased military funding; Golden Dome missile defense; $12.5 billion for air traffic control modernization.
- Defunds Planned Parenthood; bans Medicaid funding for gender-affirming care; higher taxes on large college endowments; energy permitting streamlining (more fossil fuels).
The Democrats are reflexively against the policy of reciprocal tariffs despite the boon to the US treasury of at least $300 billion in 2025, with expectations of as much as $500 billion per year going forward, according to US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.
The Democrats are obsessed with resisting Trump administration efforts to pull out all DEI and woke personnel policies from the federal government, especially the US military.
The Democrats are cheerleaders for the ongoing judicial tyranny (not coincidentally by Democrat-appointed district court judges) on everything from deployment of National Guard troops to protect federal buildings in various blue states, to staying deportations of violent illegal aliens, to cuts to the waste/fraud/abuse by USAID and other Executive Branch functions exposed by DOGE analysis, to ending DEI/woke policies in federal agencies, to virtually every Trump executive order signed!
What is the makeup of the Democrat resistance? Read on.
RESISTANCE TO TRUMP POLICIES
“Trump resistance” refers to a decentralized, multifaceted opposition to President Trump’s second term, building on the 2017-2021 movement led by the nonprofit organization “Indivisible” that was jump-started by Barack Obama. With considerable funding from leftwing billionaires, they have now metamorphosed into a more fragmented, proactive network consisting of street agitators that have also evolved from the days of Occupy Wall Street, to BLM and Antifa, and to the current No Kings crowd.
Driven by their artificial concerns over “authoritarianism,” the Heritage Foundation’s bugaboo Project 2025 (a conservative policy blueprint for resetting executive power, slashing regulations, and returning to the rule of law), mass deportations of illegal aliens, abortion bans, and economic policies like tariffs, the resistance spans progressive activists, civil society elements (useful idiots), and some bipartisan elements (e.g., the ever-present NeverTrumpers such as the Lincoln Project and the Establishment wing of the Republican Party). It lacks a single leader or unified structure, which is a lesson-learned from the international Antifa activists, instead operating through coalitions of over 200 organizations, funded by philanthropies (e.g., George Soros’s Open Society Foundations), unions, and dark-money groups like the Tides Foundation.
Protests have surged because of this money and the attendant organization that was developed over the past 15 years that specializes in finding, paying, and equipping protestors on demand across the US, with over 2,000 events having been initiated in early 2025 alone, per the Harvard Crowd Counting Consortium.
The No Kings movement’s overarching purpose is to supposedly safeguard democracy, civil rights, and economic equity (notably a Marxist term) by blocking President Trump’s agenda through legal, electoral, and cultural means. Strategies emphasize “flooding the zone” with simultaneous actions—lawsuits, rallies, and messaging—to overwhelm implementation, while building long-term power for 2026 midterms. They are closely aligned and integrated with the Democratic Socialists of America, which fielded hundreds of candidates for local offices in the just-complete 2025 elections across the US.
The election of Zohran Mamdani, a Marxist, Islamist, and self-described “Democratic Socialist,” as mayor of New York City is the culmination of their political efforts this year, as the promises of socialism played well in one of the bluest of blue cities in America. He and the other “Democratic Socialists” campaigned on the typical socialist theme that so-called oligarchs are stealing from everyone else, and that “wealthy” people must face large tax increases in order to pay for the free goods and services he has promised to everyone else in the city. The problem for him will be that there are numerous examples where Democrats that govern like socialists inevitably lead their cities into states of decay, loss, and ultimately ruin. Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia, Seattle, Los Angeles, and other Democrat cities bear witness to the failures of socialist policies to lift up their citizens.
This commentary from the Mises Institute pours a little cold water on the exuberance Democrats who support Mamdani and his ilk as “the future of the Democrat Party.”
For all the over-the-top celebrations and predictions that America’s future is democratic socialism, it is still an urban movement and will be centered around the large, wealthy cities, places that still depend heavily upon the very wealthy that the socialists claim they want to drive from their midst. Mamdani, AOC, and Sanders are all from New York City, and even for all the landslide talk, Mamdani only won slightly more than half the votes in an election in which his voters were by far the most enthusiastic.
We will find out in short order whether a 34-year-old with no business or public policy execution experience can deliver on his campaign promises. New York police and others are already voting with their feet because they know what’s coming.
SOME OF THE KEY COMPONENTS OF THE RESISTANCE
The following is a starter list of the main components of Trump resistance:
- Democrat US senators (e.g., Shutdown Chuck Schumer, Commie Bernie Sanders, Fauxcahontas Warren, Spartacus Booker, Danang Dick Blumenthal, and virtually all the rest)
- Democrat US representatives (e.g., Hakeem Jeffries, Fang-fang Swalwell, Standard Motel Schiff, unhinged Jasmine Crockett, and Bartender AOC)
- NeverTrump Republicans (including a number of members of the US Senate such as Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, Mitch McConnell, and Rand Paul) and NeverTrump “conservative” media like The National Review and even elements of Fox News
- The legacy media (e.g., MSNBC, CNN, NYT, WaPo, ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, other major newspapers, a plethora of leftwing online “news” sources, etc.)
- The administrative state (many holdovers and embeds in federal agencies, especially in the intelligence community, Pentagon and State Dept, who work to undermine Trump policies and directives)
- Leftwing nonprofit organizations funded by the likes of George Soros, Michael Bloomberg, Reid Hoffman, Bill Gates, Laurene Powell Jobs, and other billionaires who channel funds through dark money networks like Arabella Advisors, Democracy Alliance, Sixteen Thirty Fund, or Tides Foundation to leftwing activist organizations
- Leftwing thinktanks, e.g., Brookings Institution, Center for American Progress, Urban Institute, Atlantic Council, Economic Policy Institute, Southern Poverty Law Center)
- Professional organizations long compromised from within by Democrats (American Bar Association, American Medical Association, American Psychiatric Association, teacher’s unions, other labor unions, etc.)
- Retired flag and general officers and senior Democrat officials from the Biden, Obama, and Clinton regimes (e.g., the 51 signatories of the infamous letter about Hunter Biden’s laptop)
- Rank-and-file Democrats who robotically repeat Democrat-media complex cliches and false narratives
- An army of social media bots on X, etc., who amplify Democrat-media gaslighting
Perhaps the most pernicious of all the Trump resistors and potentially the most damaging to our constitutional republic are the collection of Democrat lawfare entities and litigants who have perfected legal warfare to achieve Democrat policy objectives not supported through public elections. Examples include:
- 200+ federal lawsuits have been initiated by the ACLU, NAACP-LDF, Brennan Center for Justice, Democracy Forward, and other groups
- 19 Democratic state attorneys general have sued the federal government (led by CA, NY, IL)
- Union-backed suits have been filed by AFT, AFSCME, SEIU on Schedule F proposed federal reductions in force (RIFs)
- Private law-firm coalitions of Democrat-aligned law firms like WilmerHale and Jenner & Block provide pro bono teams that support the above litigation efforts
- Federal district courts which have issued at least 46 preliminary injunctions or temporary restraining orders (TROs) thwarting, staying, or otherwise blocking Trump administration executive orders and policy directives in 2025
CONCLUDING THOUGHTS
The Left (comprised of the entire Democrat Party and other hangers-on and supporters) fully understand the stakes of the change agenda being implemented by President Trump. His America First policies are aimed at restoring the country to a solid financial economic and national security foundation while ending the endemic corruption and deficit-spending brought about by past Democrat and GOPe administrations and the weaponization of government against Democrat political enemies that took place in the Obama and Biden regimes.
This is why the Democrat forces summarized in this article have been working overtime against virtually every Trump executive order and policy directive. They know that their gravy trains are all at stake, not to mention their control of the political trajectory of our constitutional republic.
We simply cannot let them succeed in their efforts in any way, shape, or form for the sake of our country and progeny.
The end.
