Our Civil War Just Went Hot

There’s been an ideological tug-of-war going on for decades in America, between the collectivist radicals and the individualist freedom lovers. A couple of years ago I started pondering: What will the last straw be? What will launch us into our next bloody civil war – national choice by violence?

It was a really stupid thought experiment – based on the wrong premise. We aren’t at risk of starting a civil war. We’ve been in one for decades, ever since the Marxists decided to skip the debate and take what they wanted. Some of us just didn’t realize it because the radicals didn’t bother to tell us.

What looked to me like the triggering events of a civil war, were actually signs that we’re entering the final stage of the conflict – where everything comes to a climax. It’s the stage that can only end when we determine the future of America. Will our children live in a tyranny ruled for the collective, or a republic constrained by respect for the individual? There will be no middle ground.

The Marxists have followed a typical cycle of war – plan, mobilize, launch, and escalate.

Plan

As all aggressors must do, the Marxists started by picking their battlefield. They chose the institutions that provide order, stability, and predictability for our society. Then they went to work commandeering the institutions of academia, media, government, church, etc. They spent decades infiltrating and assuming leadership positions.

Mobilize

With their insurgents securely in place, the Marxists initiated the next step of their war plan – weaken their opposition. Using their control of our institutions, they worked to undermine our defenses.

  • They disarmed us with gun control and demonization of law enforcement.
  • They destroyed the American culture with open borders.
  • They crashed the family unit with welfare and transgenderism.
  • They undermined Judeo/Christian values with moral relativism.
  • They demonized meritocracy with DEI and social justice.
  • They stunted innovation and discovery with claims of “settled science.”
  • They undercut self-governance with court packing, gerrymandering, and election tampering.
  • They hobbled economic prosperity with government regulation.
  • They corrupted “equal justice under law” with lawfare.

Launch

Once everything that had made America great had been corrupted – while our defenses were at their weakest – Barack Obama gave his troops the go command: “Fundamentally change America!”

The Marxists began a frenzy of institutional actions. They

  • Took away our healthcare choices;
  • Censored political debate;
  • Hid the truth behind a curtain of propaganda;
  • Funded our enemies;
  • Sent our jobs overseas;
  • Restricted access to energy;
  • Created legally defiant sanctuaries;
  • Mandated consumer choices;
  • Criminalized opposing opinions;
  • Implemented runaway spending; and
  • Burned our cities with “mostly peaceful” rioting.

In response to our protestations, the Marxists offered us a slate of electoral choices promising social justice in lieu of personal freedom. We could vote for Kamala Harris, “the Squad,” Bernie Sanders, Zohran Mamdani, Omar Fateh, and their fellow travelers, or be labeled fascists. The Marxists weren’t offering justice (social or otherwise), they were demanding our unconditional surrender, or else.

Escalate

We chose “or else” with the election of Donald Trump. The Marxists are responding to our defiance with escalation. Now is their “Battle of the Bulge” moment, in which they’re throwing everything they’ve got at us, in a final push for victory.

The war has turned “hot.” The Marxists countered our resistance with direct kinetic action – politics via violence. Their tactics have switched to

  • Ambushes of law enforcement officers (ICE),
  • Assassination attempts (Trump, Kavanaugh, Kirk),
  • Doxing to facilitate “lone wolf” attacks,
  • Rioting, and
  • Vandalism.

Allies of the Marxists (such as drug cartels) are even offering bounties for the murder of government officials. How do we know that this violence is being done to further the objectives of the Marxists? Because the Democrat party leadership hasn’t muttered a word of condemnation for any of it. In fact, much of it is being done with their enthusiastic support.

Instead of pondering how the war might begin, we should be considering our options for ending the war. How can we keep our republic intact with minimal violence?

At this late stage of the war, we have limited options.

We could make hope our strategy. Hope that election tampering doesn’t saddle us with another wave of Marxist infiltrators in government. Hope that law enforcement can stop the violence before it crushes them. Hope that activist judges don’t protect offenders from consequences. Unfortunately, the “hope” strategy relies on multiple coin tosses all coming up “heads.”

We could meet force with force. Unleash the military and perhaps the militias to crush the violence and excise the infiltrators from our institutions. Such an approach would be bloody, would inevitably lead to some injustices, and would not guarantee a return to pre-civil war conditions. America would never be the same again.

Or perhaps we could beat the Marxists by implementing systemic changes to disrupt their defenses and cut off their logistics. Have our states utilize Article V of the constitution to implement amendments giving the states the power to recall government officials and veto spending line items. Without law enforcement and judicial protection, the Marxists will be exposed, and without runaway spending they will lack the resources to continue the fight. Then the insurrection will wither on the vine and our institutions can slowly heal.

But the time to implement such systemic corrective actions is short. The Marxists are trying to invalidate our Constitution with their activist judges. Should they succeed, our options will be reduced to hope and violence.
