The biblical phrase “handwriting on the wall” referenced G-d warning the King of Babylon his days were numbered (Daniel Ch. 5). It was a clear sign of impending doom — collapse, or downfall that is obvious to everyone except the person it concerns.
Gleaned from recent personal correspondence are two scary examples of impending doom by ignoring logical conclusions of “handwriting”. A Jewish Democrat wrote: “Christian nationalism is the only ideology infiltrating our Government.” This was in response to my statement that Muslim ideology was infiltrating our core government.
In civil discourse with a Christian Democrat about distribution of wealth and capitalism was the stated belief: “No one should be allowed to have one trillion dollars.”
To which I replied, “Today 1-trillion, tomorrow 1-million…then 1-dollar? How ‘bout if someone is 100 dollars short of 1-trillion and their spouse has 101 dollars, do they have to give it all up, or just 2-dollars? Where, how and who draws the line?” There was no reply.
These two Democrats seem to be so aloof or out-of-touch that the consequences of failing to heed the “handwriting on the wall” warnings doesn’t “concern” them. For Republicans the handwriting is clear and concerning should they lose Congress.
